  1. How long where you grinding low limits, before you made a few good scores and was able to move up in the poker world? How many of you have made a big a big score screwed up with your bankroll management and had to start all over agian? Just wondering how long it has takin the average pocket five player to move up in the world. Thanks for your answers.
  2. so when i first started like 5 months ago i went from 100 dollars to 4000 in a couple months then like all stupid idiots i went broke being stupid with my br management playing high stakes tournys that i had no business being in. once i figured out good br management (for me i wont step into a tourny that i dont have 200 buyins for.) i stuck to it like glue i went from 100 to 2000 in 2 months just grinding low/micro 90mans kos and 45mans and small re buys. now im just getting into the 10 dollar buyin tournys and hope to make a few thousand before jumping into the 24 dollar tournys. though this week im kinda ignoring my rule and taking some shots in the mftops. just a couple of them.
  3. I can understand taking a chance just dont repeat step one agian and i know from experiance its a bitch starting all over agian.Good luck, and ty for your story.

  4. oh definitely not gonna repeat. im only gonna play like 2-20 dollar tournys so it wouldn't hurt my bankroll that much at all if i loose those. trust me i have stuck to that rule religiously for the past couple months

  6. For me it depends on how far back you want to go. I've been playing online since 2006, but only took it seriously starting in 2009. It took me about 8 months to get myself up and out of the really low stakes stuff and into the $11-$55 buy in range. I handle my BR with different rules than most (I go by ave buy in being between .5%-2% of my BR rather than each individual MTT) but I stick to the plan and I has worked and kept me in the bigger MTTs so far.
  7. in the process of starting over for like the 109123412349th time

weeeeee next time i get my br to 215 im gonna ship the milly though

if you have enough to be playing 10 dollar ones why don't you play a few sattys into the Ftops? It's how I did it.. I won seats into like 7 of them so far. I am working on the ME now.

  12. I never understood bankroll management that well up until about 2 years ago. I still find it extremely hard to grind at proper stakes. I used to play mostly live at horshoe council bluffs, and I dominated their $50 and $75 buyins, so I assumed I'd be fine online doing the same. Not so much. I made several big scores in the 3-5 thousand range over a 2 year period from 06 to 08, but always would instantly start playing $300 + buy ins trying to make a huge score. Then I would wind up losing my bank roll over a month or so, and start over. I've done this several times live and online. I just decided to go back to abc poker, and it has been going well so far. I have very little patience as far as grinding goes, and i rarely would take a break when I needed to, so I started doing that more as well. If poker just is running bad for you, get up and chill for a few hours/days/weeks. When you feel level headed again, then get back to the proper grind. This has helped me tremendously, especially since I would classify myself as one of thousands of degenerates that are above average skill level, but have absolutely no patience to grind the way you should.
