Blinds 50/100. 30k starting stacks.
Yellowsub opens utg1 275 and gets two callers. I flat KJhh from CO, Kevin Schaffel flats button.
1400 in pot flop J75hh. Checks to me I bet 675, Schaffel calls, Yellowsub check-raises to 2200. I call. Schaffel calls.
Turn 6c. Yellowsub (who read as weak) leads 5600, I call and Schaffel shoves all in.
I think turn is pretty standard fold but does anyone either disagree with me there, or think the had should be played differently? Its really tough to put Schaffel on anything but 89 and I have no idea what Yellowsub had/was doing. -
sick,
i agree its a fold on the turn,
and i would have played it the same, mayyybe a fold pre but only mayyybee -
flop call bet/call is likely perfect i think we're beat but we got nice draw w/ top pair. i think turn again we can only smooth yellowsub, schaffel's shove should have at least a set at this point and possibly a straight. I think it's a pretty standard laydown here and i think you played the hand fine up to this point.
-
At least from what I recall from watching hands of the ME about Schaffel, I don't see him showing up with at the very least a set of 7's.
Yellowsub probably has an overpair and is protecting from against both the flush draw and the straight possibilities here.
I think this is a standard fold on the turn. Seems to me you played the hand perfectly until the "puke" moment when Schaffel shoves. At that moment, fold looks like your best line, and you still have a big enough stack to play poker.
First hand I don't see too many people getting out of line here with TT, QJ, 99, etc.
What did they both flip? I figure YellowSub for AA or KK and Schaffel for 77 or 89hh. -
The turn flat is kinda questionable to me. I can't see you getting paid off on the river by enough hands in his range if you hit your (non-nut) flush, but then again I'm not used to playing with your image. On the turn I think Folding>>>>>>shoving>calling, but meh, I'm a nit. And as played, I'd definitely fold to the shove.
-
I agree with this...ur top pair+possible 2pr/set outs ur basing ur hand strength on can't be good so ur looking at possible FD only, which u wouldn't get paid on anyway unless u got all in and drawing slim. I agree tho, why did you have yellowsub pegged as weak with the c/r (besides the obvious of him folding the turn like sdouble said).

i three bet the flop to 6k ish, find out right there if kevin has a set (doubt he's ever flatting a three bet to 6k with atc). Fold to kevin's 4 bet jam, or get it in with yellow..

Can't think of any hands you'd be ahead of here so early in the tournament.
Schaffel isn't doing this with a naked flush draw or any hand that has a jack except for JJ which he wouldn't play this way on the flop.
I think he has to have a set or 89 here with a set being far less likely than 89s so I agree it's a fold. -
just purely a question, did 3 betting flop ever cross your mind?
-
I'm definitely folding the turn, I'd be absolutely stunned if Schaffel showed up with less than a set.

Edit: Nevermind, completely did not see what the turn card was. -
yellowsub looks so fos here, he certainly isnt doing this with any made hands imo. i would bet alot bigger on the flop and call the re-raise. i honestly dont know the correct turn play here, obviously fold now. scheffel's most likely holding seems like 89hh.

doesnt matter anymorE Doc has 92k and yellowsub less than 15..
glglgl -
3b flop is definitely and option - doing so did cross my mind. I elected to flat primarily bc if I get 4b I cant continue despite having a hand that has great equity against anything but a set.
I also thought yellowsub was on total air and I wanted to let him hang himself. Seemed like flat was lowest risk/highest reward play. No need to play massive pots on the first hand of one of the softest 10ks of the year. -
I fold to Yellow's turn lead. I think you're only beating air. Does he really CR the flop and double barrel against 2 callers with air here? Obv priced out of chasing your flush aswell
-
I'm folding turn here, i think the only way your going to get the rest of his stack is if you hit a king on the river and he puts the rest of his chips in with AA, no?
-
Shaff cld have 89 and call the flop with a gutterball I cant see him betting so much so early without the goods.
-
maybe im the only one to question this but is there any option of check raising/cc the flop.....
-
just c/c flop
-
oh this is the hand u were telling steve/hunter about..I like your line and prob play it the same . agree w/ jmaster that the turn is kind of close on folding/calling ..thats all im typing on here im sure ill see you again and will give you more..
