I was just curious if anyone else has noticed the fake guaranteed tourneys on dise. They claim to have a guaranteed prize pool. What they don't tell you, unless I missed the fine print, is that the only thing guaranteed is the buy in pool. Which of course, they take their 9% from. So the prize pool rarely ever meets the guarantee in the large tournaments. For example, the 150k guaranteed last weekend only paid out $137,956 ($151,600 buy in pool - 9%) I attempted to write them to find out their explaination for this, but just got the runaround and flat out lied to. Has anyone else contacted them about this, or have any thoughts on the matter?
-
That's how Paradise does all of their tournaments. They don't charge an additional fee like every other site. That's just the way it's always been. It still works out either way.
-
It really doens't work out the same. Most sites for rebuy tourneys take the buy in plus a flat entry fee on the first buy in, then all rebuys go to the prize pool. On dise, they take 9% of all rebuys as well. The rake ends up killing the pool much more than any other site.
-
Ok then complain so we can pay $200+ 15 instead of just $200, it's still the same.
-
Well right now your paying 182+18.
-
This isn't really a tough concept to understand....just simple math. It isn't the same. On dise in a $200 buy in, $182 goes to the prize pool and $18 goes to the house. Unlike a $200 + $15 where $200 goes to the pool and $15 to the house. But, this isn't even the issue here. I'm talking about the tournaments that GUARANTEE a certain PRIZE pool. The guarantee says that is how much money will be paid out in prizes, but this just isn't the case if the buy in pool isn't atleast 9% about the guarantee.
-
I understand what your sayin, they guarantee the prize pool but it's not really what they pay out because of the rake...they are kinda screwing people.
It reminds me of when UltimateBet would guarantee their prize pools and the guarantee wouldn't be met and the tourny would get canceled. -
u are 100% correct CP, If the prizepool is guaranteed a certain amount, it should pay that amount to the players, both UB and Dise (for very different reasons) are not acting appropriately in this regard.
No other site taxes our rebuys, by having a rake both on the initial buyin, the rebuys and the addon. That simply is too much. There are currently sites with 0 rake, this is simply unacceptable in the current market. -
this is a very good point. On the other hand, I cannot resist these $100r tournaments =(
I doubt they will change their rebuy format any time in the near future, but maybe they could be honest with the guarantees! -
I snet htem an email about this and they stated that they take 9% off the top and the only thing that is guarnteed is the buy in pool. I argued but got no where. If it says 150K guarntee then that is what it should be 150K guarnteed prize pool. Here is their explanation for the way it works. if it is a 150K guarnteed tourney, and 140K is the buy in amount they then take 9% off of the 140 and add 10K to the prize pool. That is what was explained to me. Not right but that is the way they do things.

Yes I agree, any rebuy that is played at dise, is just costing moremoney than the industry standard (just juicing the inital buyin)....its similar to paying an extra 10% rake at a cash game, and justdoesnt make sense to me....Since they already get cheap on the lowerbuy in rebuys only giving 12 min per level, this rake gouging iskeeping me from playing the only rebuy i would really play at dise(33r)....oh well no biggie, the blind structure is kinda screwyanyways....just have to keep my business w/ the companys that provide afair product.
P.S. Just think of the rake in the 100r and 200r, OUCH -
I love DISE and (used to?) consider it my home base, but now that I play at stars... it is tough to imagine going back.
(and not just for these rake issues: my 5-10$ mtt at DISE with their 10 min blind levels trained me to play far more donkish post flop late into tournies, and now with a slower 15 min lev at stars, my ROI is saying a big TY!)

It's a tough site to get away from. The donkey/player ratio is so high.
-
timzc..........gotta agree with you bro...............I pulled all my money from Dise because the $5 and $10 tourneys are ridiculous............I do much better on sites that have a better structure, and I am not coming back to dise until they change the $5 and $10 to a min of 12 min levels.......preferably 15 min levels.
