    takes 4-7 days

  9. Most of the people who won these seats are just going lose and have to pay like 3-4k in taxes.

    WRONG.
  13. you should pay taxes on any income...if you win 50 dollars, you should be paying uncle sam some $$$....it doesn't matter if you are a pro or not, its an income.
  14. Pretty sure that you pay taxes on your final number for the year if I'm not mistaken? If you make 10K and then you lose 10K it's break even and you pay nothing.

If someone who is a tax accountant wants to deal me differently than I'll defer.
  15. Or you could claim 10K in earnings and try to write the 10K in losses off but that probably won't work so those of us that like money would probably be inclined to claim nada if we broke even on the pokers.

Personally I deduct my lost equity too, it only seems fair.

Well of course unless he was paying very close attention to the tournament, watched the short stack bust on another table during the same hand of hand-for-hand play, and THEN shoved his KK. Which is what happened.

People on forums are so quick to judge with so little information. Sad really.
  17. ^^ Exactly ^^

I saw a similar post on 2+2 for this exact hand

    sigh

  18. What seems fair in life and what is required are unfortunately two different issues.

For the recreational player, the 10K is reported as income, and the entry fee is then reported as a loss. You cannot deduct more losses than winnings, and you cannot deduct expenses such as airfare.

Reporting your equity change is not the correct method, unfortunately, as having a higher gross income does impact your tax bracket.

For most players, it is not a big deal. But for those at a high risk of getting audited, it is significant.
  19. hello poker friends.

i assure you, i had all the shorties' tables open from the time I calculated my B ratio to be >11 and was simply waiting for the inevitable. the inevitable demise of the 116 stack I saw, I celebrated, and I put my stack in for the best bad beat of my life. i saw it as going out in style. the tourney was over.

i may have picked up this habit during my days at paradise, where such tourneys didn't end after the bubble, but kept going on for phucking ever, and it was fun to triple up with 92o and bust with AT when it didn't matter anymore. in fact, I won two WPT seats with them in 2005 (Legends and Foxwoods), and this ticket is actually my third seat on the pokerstars team in a year's time (EPT Barcelona and Prague). in total, this is my seventh win of an online satty that put me in a major, with one second place finish for a Borgata Open ticket which still stings to this day. so while I appreciate your concern for my reckless, foolish play of KK, i assure you, matters were firmly in hand.

    felt me in vegas,

    daddio
