  1. So I play in a home game every wednesday with 10 people, a few good players but mostly passive players......we start with 40k in chips and blinds 100/200 blinds are 20mins long......So at the 500/1k this hand plays out...

I'm UTG with jj, I decide to limp in since I dont like to play this hand coming in for a raise with 9 to act still, well an aggressive player thats been raising decides to raise to 4k he's in mid position and cutoff decides to call 4k, now I have 45k in chips, I decide to pull the limp reraise to try and steal the pot but if not i got a decent hand, so I raise to 15k, well after a long thought mr.aggresive pushes for 31k total and cutoff calls 27k and has 8k left behind him, now I put the cutoff all-in and to my surprise mr.aggressive has AQ and Cutoff a newbie has AJ, I end up winning the hand and getting myself to about 115k in chips.....What do you think of this play? Like to see some responses before I give my thoughts on it?

I ended up winning the tourney, 4 handed I had JJ again on BB and UTG calls, SB calls and I raise to 20k with blinds 2k/4k, UTG calls, flop comes JQ3 rainbow, I check he bets 15k into a 40+ pot, I decide not to slowplay the hand and raise to 45k total, he then shoves in for 40k more and I beat him in the pot, he shows QK and turn came Q and river A for a monster pot and to never look back to win.....

This game had some sick hands played out, on a flop of board of 55QAK, one player shows AA other shows 55, 10 hands later on a board of JQT88 on player shows 88 other person mucks without showing, just some ultra big hands in just 3 hrs of play.......
  2. If you ever need someone to fill in for a missing player, count me in. This game sounds delicious.

  3. I put Mr. aggressive on a better hand than AQos but it sounds like you know the way these guys play better than I do. I would've given him credit for at least KK and possibly AA.
This is such a big pot that you may still be getting odds to call but I probably would've folded here.
  4. Pot odds were too good to fold but I probably would have just called instead of repushing. then lead the flop. but sounds like cutoff was total newb who would call with weak holdings so good play.
  5. many people like yourself will limp with jj here, but would you raise with ak? Why do you fear raising 9 players here? How often do you get a hand stronger than jj? They get it just that low % as well. Raise it up to have a better feel for where you are at. Are you scared they'll call with KQ? GREAT!!! they'll only flop a k or a q 1 in 3 meaning you will profit by continue betting. Raise it 4 x the blind instead of your standard 3x times, this will knock out more random hands and maybe get you the blinds. If they call, you know now that they have something somewhat respectable. I dont disagree with limping and see the action around the table, but now you are requiring yourself to be a great post flop player, and by the sounds of this game, 1 you are not, and 2 the players in it are too new to put a strong read on them. Next time save yourself the headache by raising first. When you limp re-raise and are then forced in, if you know this player to be very aggressive on mediocre holding you are forced to go all in. 1 if it is a flip, which it is, you are getting great odds after already putting in 15k. Also with another caller in, they're most likely sharing cards making you more than a 50/50. Also it is possible that he will push a weaker holding than a flip, like 88 99 TT at a9. Therefore once you've made up your mind to put in 15k, you will put in all of it.

  6. The reason I did not raise UTG is because in this game with a bunch of noobs everyone calls a raise with almost any Ace and def any two face cards, but they will not call a big reraise even if they are getting odds to do so since they dont play any odds or situation they just play their cards.....now sayin that I knew that mr. aggressive would raise which would prob get 1-3 other players in the pot. To my surprise only one other player joined the pot. Now my whole idea was to take that 10k already in the pot with my big reraise and not see a flop at all because I was almost positive that they would both fold...I had a strong inclination that Mr.aggressive had a big Ace and thought he would fold which would then leave me against the noob which I thought would fold once mr.aggressive folded. Now when mr.aggressive pushes for an additional 16k to my raise and now the noob calls 16k more the pot is now at 78,500 give me 5/1 on my money which makes it an auto call after having invested half of that on the raise and 1/3 of my stack. Now the reason I put the noob all in is because he had 8k more and I was going to push the flop regardless, I was not going to check down and let him hit a card to lose a huge pot because of that, secondally he is such a noob that I thought if he heard me say "Im all in" he might have looked down and said I got some chips left I dont want to be first out and possibly fold "as bad as that sounds" some of the players are totally clueless. I figured my best an only move was to push and lets see the cards flipped up. I a little surprised to see mr.aggressive call me with AQos as he knows I wont make that move without AA or KK even though I held JJ i was trying to represent AA or KK and I was not so surprised to see noob flip up AJ suited, I was still a lil worried going in with JJ three way all-in but like i said i was not trying to get to this point as I was just trying to steal the pot preflop but got committed to the hand. This would never work with better players but this game is very weak and strange and this play works more often than not there......
