Had same thing happen the other night ,me on the losing end. Nice reward for your efforts.

Q: what hand did you put him on? top p top kicker (dia)? overpair jj (dia) and he'd fold? Did you think he'd call with bottom set? (was his call a good one, given the board?) My cash game no lim experience is (next to) ZERO; I'd love a quick lesson.

qucik answer, and I don't claim to even know half as much as gbmantis....
overbet in situations like this. Make it look like you have a naked Ace of diamonds and are pushing with a flush draw. You can get called, assuming he reads it correctly, 90% of the time by a single pair. It comes down to a matter of getting him to call with the weakest possible hand by making it look like you have nothing but a semi-bluff.
In cash games at levels 2/4 - 5/10, the overbet works better than a 3x raise. The guys are willing to overthink the situation and assume it's always a bluff. I dunno about higher levels b/c I've never played them, but forget the other moves. People are willing to call a 5x reraise because in their eyes, you wouldn't play a strong hand that fast. -
fuck no. I just read the Strategy Archives at PocketFives.com.
