  1. I can't get the hand history but I'll outline the situation. Blinds are 6/1200 I had roughly 30,000 and voff voff had around 34,000. I haven't been real active and he's been playing quite a few hands, other than that I have no reads.

Folds to me in cutoff I raise to 3340 with 99. Voff calls from the BB

    Flop: Js 3d 4d

He immediately led for roughly 2/3 the pot, I think it was like 4440 or so.

I raised to 10,000 even and he immediately stuffed all in for like 31,000 total. (Would have been for all my chips)

I tanked for awhile but my line was that it was either a well played set, or a big draw like KdQd, AdQd, or maybe something like 5d6d or 7d8d. Is this a good line to take?

PS. I mucked and left myself with like 15,000.

My question is should I just fold the hand when he leads on the flop? If not, what is your play?
  2. antes?
  3. I'm not exactly sure (and think it is a very read-based decision) between folding to his flop bet or shoving over his bet, but raising small and then folding would be my last option.
  4. I most definitely misplayed the hand. That isn't up for debate I admit that. Antes were like 125 I believe. I'm basically just wondering what the ideal way to play this hand would be? I know he was playing very aggressively, and thats about the only read I had.

  5. with no read i fold

i guess if you really don't want to fold you can smooth call and re-evaluate on turn - i just don't know what you would be hoping to hit other than a non diamond nine.

if you are raising it should be to entice him to monkey shove an a3 and with no read you can't really justify it.

  6. your raise opens yourself vulnerable to any reraise. flat call and see what comes out on 4 and what he does. then re-evaluate.
  7. like said, no reason to reraise if you're folding to a 3bet post flop
  8. Its a tough spot for sure but I think a couple things need to be considered. He's in the BB and, including his BB, there is already 3k in the pot. Your raise makes it ~6k in now. You've nearly given him 3to1 on his call. Unless, he's convinced that you have a high pair, it's not out of line for him to look you up, especially if he perceived your raise to be a steal attempt.

So if you want to play the hand, and I think you should, I'd consider raising it up a little higher pre, only because you have a hand that is vulnerable like 99. This will help you define your hand a bit more and should force him to tighten up his play somewhat.

Also, the rr pf is weak. If he has anything at all, including a decent draw, he can't fold to that.
  9. Flat on flop an reevaluate. He either has a big draw, a J or a set. If it bricks out on turn i dont see him double barreling a draw but if he does check a brick to you on turn im not sure if id rather bet or check. Cause it is a good spot for him to checkrasie trun all in. Since ur line wouldnt look very strong. If you ever are gunan take your root and rasie flop i guess just ship it. cause hes gunan 4 bet shove a big draw there.

  10. I wasn't folding to a 3bet preflop. If he 3bet I was intending on re-shipping 30k. Therefore, I am not sure I agree with increasing the raise size preflop.

  11. raise size pre doesnt really matter to much. Dont mean sht if hes getting 3to1 from bb to call if hes gunna be playing out of position agaisnt a much stronger hand. One reason to raise more pre is if your not real confident in your postflop game. But other then that small riase pre is fine.

  12. May not be a much stronger hand tho. He may have a little something (KQ) and interpret the OP raise to be a steal attempt and since its relatively cheap for him to see the flop, he does.
  13. i think its fine to fold when he leads 2/3 pot on the flop. There are soo many hands in his range that you're either crushed by, or almost flipping with.

I dont like flatting and re-evaluating bc, essentially you want him to check/fold to your turn bet.
    But, possible scenarios:
A non scary card comes off and:
    1. voff double barrels you and you're lost in the hand bc ur still behind any J, 2p, set, etc
    2. Voff check/raises
A scary card comes off and:
voff leads again and now ur completely beat

i dn if i worded that well bc im in class right now butttttt just fold 99 there. thats what i do.
  14. I played against against Voff Voff for the majority of this tournament. He was super aggressive and didn't give up on hardly any pots. I would have put him on the flush draw and made the call. Folding and leaving yourself 15k leaves you with almost no chance to win, but winning that hand puts you in good shape to make the final table.
  15. horrible advice and he had aq diamonds
