  1. Anyone play the tournaments here? I read the article that limits cash game buyins to $100 max NL, which isn't worth the time as far as I'm concerned.

I'm coming down with about 10 friends and staying close to South Beach in Doral from June 24-July 1 and I figure I'll make time for poker at least once since I turn 18 on June 21 and it'll be my first opportunity to play real stakes live (outside of the .25/.50 NL home game I used to play in).

But anyway, my question is about their NL tournaments. I found the schedule online, and I'm wondering how these play. Also, do you need to show up to get the tickets for the tournaments that they talk about, or can I show up an hour or less before it starts and still get in most of the time? I think I'll probably play in a $100 tournament since a friend of mine wants to play but won't go higher, and then I'll either play the $575 or $150, since I want to play in the morning so I can get crunk at night. Anything you guys can tell me about these tournaments/the casinos/any other nearby casinos would be great. Thanks!

  3. I play there, only reason they are adding cash games is to compete w/ Pompano New Casino which is getting 1/2 NL, 100 max, on July 1st......I can't wait for the fish. Also it isnt exactly a 100 max u buy in for 100 then u can add more at the table or something. so its pretty much regular 1/2 NL.
  4. from what i hear from my peeps in the area, the play is really loose and lag is the word of the day gl
  5. Isnt that the one partly owned by the Grinder ?
  6. Does anyone have any kind of official word on whether it will be $100 max or $100 min?
  7. Nothing official, but the way the bill is worded, it DOES NOT put a limit on the stakes of the no limit games. It just says that players "can't be required" to buy-in for more than $100.

From what I've heard, I think the casinos are just gonna go for $1/2NL...whether or not they're gonna try and see how far they can push the limits of the new law remains to be seen.
  8. grinder only plays there. As far as the new bill its a Max $100 buy in with no limit. So if you are winning and have $500 you can go all in for what you have.
  9. lol @ Doral being "close to South Beach".

  10. Relatively Doral is pretty close , its like a 10 15 minute drive w/ o traffic.
  11. I play there when i need a good laugh..out of 300 in MTT maybe 20 are any good....I would stick with 250 single tables. They are completely aweful, cashed 11 of my last 12.Out of the 10 people two may be decent...Its a really nice place, people are generally nice, its very clean.Monday night tourney is very nice.

  12. I live in Doral, and its 20 minutes at minimum, and with Miami's growing traffic issues expect up to an hour. I do have a question though, what do you think of the "rake" in these ? Your $100 buy-in is really only $75 and after cashing (hopefully you will, fingers crossed) the dealers expect to get tipped. I like my chances with an ONLINE Room better?
  13. I dont beleieve you, there are very good players there. I doubt you cashed 11 out of 12 LOL
if you where that good you would be at the Bellagio
  14. If you are looking for a good multi, go to the Seminole casino near the Hard Rock. The structure in the multis at the Hard Rock is awful. The antes and blinds get ridiculous, at the seminole the antes dont kick in until much later.
  15. no trust me... the players are THAT bad

i played in a couple SNGs and got 2nd both times without even tryin to play poker

the play was absolutly terrible there...

the one bad thing was i think they raked a fuckin SHIT TON...

but the rake might be worth it just becuase of the horrible players...

    just dont bluff... lol
  16. Look there are players there that live off of poker and play everyday. They even have $1000 S&Gs. Seminole has the same players and are also very good there. Thats a ridiculous statement that players there are no good. By the way Grinder and his Family play there so does Fred Goldberg 10 th in the WSOP.
  17. maybe i went on a really good night for me

but i did not see one good player there in my SNGs or my frends SNGs

it was truly some of the worst poker i have seen...

but oh well, like i said, maybe it was just a good night to go
