the vice president of harrahs, the guy who runs the wsop now, is asking for suggestions for future events. his email address is jplt@harrahs.com. this was posted in an article in cardplayer. if you have any serious suggetions please post them here and forward an email to harrahs. i will send an email with the suggestions you post here as well.
i have sent an email suggesting staggering the breaks to alleviate the bathroom issues as well as a player only buffet area to eat in. i also requested more mixed games be added to the schedule. i also suggested that the sponsors pick up the tab for the staff rather than pulling money from the prize pool.
the other issue that i mentioned was a penalty for players who react during a hand while not involved. the matasow shiekhan issue. if a player jumps out his seat/ rolls his eyes /tell his girlfriend " i would have hit a set" or influences play while not invovled in the live hand some penalty should be enacted, a 20 minute time out like the fbomb rule or a forfieture of chips to the players effected.what do you think? i see this a lot in live play where someone just gives away the hand while not even in the hand. how can you run a bluff if some donkey is cussing cuz he folded the nuts? is someone going to lay down his overs to your small pair if the idiot is giving away info that you probably missed your set? and then he chases you down and gets lucky. i really think some kind of penalty is warranted for this. -
should the wsop raise the buyin or create a new event with a 100k buyin?
i like the 10 k event but i think adding a new tier of super buyin events would be cool a 100 k buyin or even a million buy in would still draw players and make great tv.
can you just imagine the sattelite tourneys that would spring up to feed a million dollar buyin tourney?each online site sends say 5 players to the million event a field of say 300 final 3 tbls split up $300,000,000 -
A million dollar buy in wouldn't get any entries. I think you are overestimating the money that professional poker players have. It would simply take too many satellites and the prize pools would be the same or less than what the main event is now.

i think that a lot of sites and sponsors will eventually step up for exposure and create a feeder system to supprt this and it would be small field which would please the tv and to degree some players who think its a crap shoot now. i can see some companies like toyota holding company games to send a corp rep to play .. i t will soon be like nascar with team approaches and sponsorships. wait till you see marcel luske in gucci suits as a sponsor

I agree that major corporate sponsorship would be necessary, but I still don't think it's very feasible. Imagine, for the average player to satellite they'd have to put up $100 to enter a feeder into the 10K feeder. If they won an entry into the 10K feeder, they's have to win another sat into either the 100K single table feeder or the 1M buyin in feeder. I don't know, doesn't seem like it would work. The field would prob be under 500.

In the realm of reality.....
There needs to be more added money to the WSOP. Harrahs got $2M for the TOC for hanging one (1) banner, putting up two (2) coolers filled with free drinks, and stenciling a logo on each of the tables that was going to be filmed (3 of them). You would imagine that they could find similar corporate sponsorship for other televised tournaments, and then even if they only took HALF of that free money (not to mention the cash they get from ESPN) and add it to the prize pool of the given tournament, that would make a huge huge difference. They would still profit, and then they could have justification to do whatever the hell they wanted, and the players couldn't complain b/c of all the added money in the tournament. Everyone wins. -
thats the idea a tourney with about 300 entries one or 2 days to run . lots of indepth tv coverage and interviews with a much smaller field but all the intensity of a 300 million prize pool.
norman chad " and as we return to the featured tbl sponsored by jack daniels we have johnny chan allin, the tropicana juice fans are going wild" -
i agree completly the sponsor money should go into the pool or be used to eliminate the rake and entrie fees. the staff cut should come out of the sponsors . espn is reairing for years and making money on each episode some royalties for that should be paid
