  1. i dont know what it is but if im ever playing long session live or deep in a tourny i ALWAYS end up getting a headache its super annoying its gotten to the point that everytime i go play live poker i take excedrin with me, idk if its the lighting, staring at the cards/felt so much, posture in the shitty chairs but was wondering if anybody else gets headaches when playing??

  2. you might need glasses..or new ones
  3. I used to play pretty long stretches live. It's a combination of things: lighting, air conditioning, awful chairs.

If you're playing cash, take a 3-4 minute break every 60-90 mins and walk around for a bit. If you're deep in a tourney and can't leave, get up when there's a big hand that you're not involved in
  4. I used to get headaches too during long sessions. For me it was because I didn't eat anything while I was at the casino and I would take cigarette breaks and smoke them really fast cause I wanted to get back to table quickly. Now I make sure I eat if I am there for more than a few hours and I take less cigarette breaks. No more headaches.
  5. I play a fair amount of live tournaments. They are typically more stressful than online because of having to deal with so many different personalities and the dynamics of being in front of other people. Stress can cause dehydration. Obviously, don't drink alchohol because that will contribute to it, but also even drinking a lot of sodas can do it. Stay properly hydrated. Get up and walk around like SlayNL said. It's possible that flourescent lighting could cause headaches.. but if you don't have that issue anywhere else... then it's something else. It's probably not glasses because you would have that issue in other situations. Most casinos have cushions for the crappy chairs. Several even have massage therapists to give massages while playing for a fee of course. But I think staying hydrated, eating something, and getting up and moving around might help you out.
  6. water is your friend, and lots of it.

And pack energy bars or snacks too- could be you need food. TNy's dont always have good breakties for food live.

My hydration drink of choice is 2/3 water 1/3 grape gatorade, if you can bring your own.
If not, then ask for water and plenty of it. Def stay away from coffee, mountain dew, coke, pepsi and other sugary CO2 drinks...
Excedrin is necessary at times. I tend to get migraines so I always have some imitrex tablets on hand as well.
