  1. Round 1 of a $26 sattie token 4 person HU on FTP. 2 cash, 2nd for $21 and first for a $75 sattie token. Relatively early on, Drew has very good sharkscope stats and is by all reads a pretty TAG/solid regular at these limits (maybe a bit higher usually).

Given this and with top pair on this flop, what's your play? Are you not raising this preflop with 50 BB and A7 and if so, why?

    Results to follow.

  2. raising or calling in pos w/ A-7 pre this early doesn't really matter too much in the whole scheme of things, more along the lines of setting plays up for later/setting game pace

As played, I'd lean toward check-calling and re-evaluating the turn, open-shoving is borderline here - you just can't be folding top pair in this spot because C-bets are usually interpreted as meaningless HU, and he could have anything here

Not to mention how many draws are out there with the A,10,8 and two diamonds.. that hits a lot of hands
  4. This is a pretty common spot, but i can already tell that it's results oriented.... I would prolly call and make a decision based on the turn, but there is nothing that you should be doing in this spot 100% of the time. I dont really like shoving here at all because ur only gettin called by something that beats you or a combo draw of sorts (assuming ur read is correct) w/2 more to come.

    How'd it play out?
  5. rasie to 550 / call shove
  6. def read dependent tho
  7. First I raise less pre. I know it doesnt mean a lot, but all the good players keep saying it and I've been trying to stick with it and it seems to work. Raising 3X the blinds is too much in most scenarios nowadays. I like to raise to 75 or 80 at this level. I know its trivial the small difference but once the blinds get bigger and you are raising the same amount proportionally it won't look weird to ur opponent, and will be saving you more chips as the blinds increase.

Anyway, this particular hand I call the raise, and see how my opponent handles the turn. If a draw gets there and he is still firing I strongly consider folding. If a draw misses and he is still firing I probably end up getting it in as the pot has now gotten big and if you lose move onto the next tourney.
  8. This is really read dependant. Vs unknown I jam but puke when he flips A8
  9. Here's results... call/reassess turn seems like best line after reading responses. The draw heavy board here is scary and in retrospect, my shove is not getting called by anything I beat.

I am a relative donk at HU, so my thought was that top pair was a monster at HU and that a set was unlikely, so I shoved to push him off a ten. Good responses, more would be appreciated, especially from HU specialists.

P.S. I did end up fighting back from 150 chips to get the lead until the blinds got big and I went card dead. He eventually picked off a pushbot shove from the button where I had 93o, but lost in the next round.

  10. Sorry, why are you shoving to push him off a T?
