  1. I've never played in a live tournament in my life and I don't have the bankroll for anything major. I saw that the "Heartland Poker Tour" is coming to the Turtle Lake casino which is about 90 minutes from the Twin Cities so I decided to look up the info.

The Main event is a $2750 direct buy in on Sunday. There are two $500+50 qualifiers to the Main Event that run on Friday & Saturday. Since $550 is still a bit too much for me I was quite interested in the $60 and $115 sats that run for the $550 qualifiers...that is, until I saw the structure. Is it me or is this structure ridiculous?

    Starting Chips: 1500
    Round Length: 10 min
    Blinds:
    25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000, 1000/2000, 2000/4000
  2. These are 1 table satellites...the structures are always fast. You are better off making the money online and and withdrawing some to play in the event. Play a $100 online sit and go or play cash games to make the $550.
  3. LOL, What a joke of a structure. After 20 mins your playing push/fold poker.
  4. standard, except they are usually 800 chips for $65, 1000 for $130. 1200 for $185

since you are getting 1500 skipping the the 75/150 level is a wash

i agree withthe person who said you are better off playing some online stt's and cashing out, these sats are usually WTA
  5. Am I wrong or do live tournament structures just generally suck?
  6. Am I wrong or do live tournament structures just generally suck?

no kidding...Thanks to Washington State, I have to play live again and most of the structures just suck. most of the daily tournaments around me..You start with only 1000 chips with the blinds starting at 25/50...give me a break....not much poker involved here.
  7. Most live structure are fast...the casino's goal is to move people in, collect the rake and get people out of the tournament and into a cash game. Some live tournaments have decent structures, but most are designed to end in a certain period of time..4-5 hours.
  8. With the fees associated with even small buyin tournaments I believethe casinos owe it to their players to have at least a decent structure.

The problem is the majority of live players(from my experience) arequite dumb and are there to "gamble" so they couldn't really care lessabout the structure.
