This thread is for the High Stakes players who have questions regarding a certain HH's or for them to analyze the way they played certain hands that was crucial to them. I am creating this post in hopes to draw some top players to the HA forum and give everyone else an insight on the thought process of High Stakes Grinders.

Mid stages of the 100r. Whats your plan for the rest of the hand? I'll post what I did and why a bit later. -
I have never had the pleasure to play with McLEOD but I certainly put him on a big hand there. I don't think he would over-call there with 8's or 9's and AA is possible but there are a lot of other hands in his range. So i would lead out and try to protect/value bet my hand vs AKo with a diamond or two red queens, if I get re raised on the flop I would have to re raise and get it in b/c he just likes the flop to much with TT-QQ and really I would only be concerned about AA or AKd.
Like I said, McLEOD might play a lot different than I have seen him play in the games I have watched, but he is a good player and spewing off chips on a call with a mid-pair that hit the flop just doesn't seem right to me and it would force me to think KK was good here. If he smooth calls the flop and it comes a diamond obv you can get away if he makes a big bet. Nice of you to post this Stevie. -
I believe you’ll either come out firing, or check raise flop, to gain info…
-
Well I'll take a shot at this one..hopefully don't make an ass of myself:
You definetly have to raise here, atleast half pot - 3/4's. I think best thing that happens is he folds because I don't know if you want to go any further with this hand. Win it on the flop and then on to the next hand. If he repops you probably have to fold. Since he just called behind you I would probably range him somewhere in the neighbourhood of 77-JJ, KJs, KQo, KQs, AT, AJ, (AQs,AQo - maybe..but I think he is raising this pre alot of times). I think any bigger hands he probably reraises pre, also anything lower than 77 he most likely reraises or just straight out folds.
I don't think I am trying to get my money in in this spot. If I had the Kd maybe a different story..but with no redraw, oop, this is spot i would definetly be carefull and not fall in love with my hand just because it is KK.
This is basically the line i would take against a random, you 100r guys play together alot so you may have reads or history to play it differently. -
i check flop w/intent to check raise allin if andy raises. If andy checks i fire on turn with no diamond or ace and see what he does. If he calls evaluate river.
or you could just instaship flop =) -
tough spot i think
he calls a raise and a reraise which screams monster (i.e. AA) , but then you and him are both top players and so know this is supposed to be a monster, so this could easliy be 3rd level thinking... and his calling with something that plays well post flop
It may seem a bit weak to check this but i think thats what i would do for pot control and to try and see a relatively cheap showdown.
if you c bet this is a great flop to be bluffed of the hand, or a semi bluff if he has A diamonds -
Wow, very interesting spot. I think so much of how to play this hand is dependant on table dynamics and what gear you and Andy are in...
It being the middle stages, I think I would lean toward making a smallish c-bet and folding to a reraise. I'm not sure of Andy's level of aggression, but I don't think KK with no diamond is very far ahead of his reraising range here, when any reraise is going to commit him to the pot if you shove. Especially considering the preflop action.
Thanks for posting, Stevie! -
How loose is Andy playing today? Obv his flat here is supposed to be pretty much {AA}, but he knows this and can abuse it.
Well check fold seems real weak, but anything else just seems pretty spewy OOP.
After repping exactly AA, he is pretty much shoving all of his range over a cbet, so we are never really going to know if we are ahead or not. -
It does appear he is going to shove pretty much anything here. If that is the case, I am unwilling to proceed on the basis that he has AA and nothing else. If he does, I am going out of the tournament but that is OK. If his range consists of other stuff as well, I am a big favorite against diamondless hands, a decent favorite against hands with one diamond, and dead against the few that have two diamonds.
Therefore I think I am ahead and am almost certainly going to get bet into. So I would make the bet which is most likely to induce a shove which I am then going to call. That would in my opinion a standard sized c-bet. -
i have no idea how you guys are polarizing his range to AA... im pretty sure i replied to this psot yesterday though i can't see it. Def lead out and call a shove, unless he flats and an A or diamond comes. If he flats and an Ace comes, im still playing the hand just slowing down though, folding only to real signs of strength. I could see QQ or JJ with a diamond flatting as well.
-
I was gunna reply to this yesterday but I forgot. In the end I decided to bet call but wasnt too happy about it. Ive spoken to numerous good players and heard arguments for c/f, c/c, b/f and b/c and im still fairly confused about what the right option is. I think his range pre is real tight. Possibly as tight as QQ+ and probably at the loosest TT+,AK. I dont think he flats aces 100%, nor do I think he 4bets them 100%. If I bet the flop I think he shoves KK+,AdKx,QdQx,JdJx and folds JJ, QQ and AK with no diamond but I could be wrong about this. So it kinda depends how much his range is weighted towards QQ and away from AA, if at all. Anyways I bet and he folded.
