  1. looking to have home tourney with around 40 players.Ideas for blind structure, starting chips and length of blinds. Want tourney to be 5-6 hours in length.
  2. i use the same as stars starting at 25-50 and make the levels 20 mins with 5k starting
  3. how long do your tournies last usually TING

  4. well if you do what i said and had 40 people theres 200k of chips in play. starting at 25-50 the 12th level is 1k/2k and at 20 minute levels that is the 4 hour mark. at that point you shouldnt be too far from the end. adjust the amount of starting chips and the time the levels go up to make it what you want.
  5. thanks TING

  6. 30 minute levels 10k in starting chips blinds start at 5-10 and double every 2 levels with a break after every 4 levels.

  7. i dont like the idea of doubling the blinds unless you want it to be a crap shoot, one orbit you have a 12BB stack the next 6. booooo. use a structure that is already made, one from any online tourney will work or you could do a search and figure out a structure used in any good casino. personally i would go with the one the borgata uses for their wed tournies. gl.
  8. here is the borgata one i was talking about, similar to stars

    81840-16752..

Jeez...they call it "SMALL" blind for a reason.

    :-D
  11. sorry i mistyped was supposed to be 81820

  12. so level 14 there are still 1$ chips. do you ride the short bus stsitron??
  13. try it for one tourney man you will get great results ppl love having massive chip stacks and keeping the 1$ chips in play ensures this.......

    best structure ever.

  14. lol ill pass thats the worst idea ever
  15. check out homepokertourney.com pyker, there is LOTS of great info there for hosting your tournament.

Follow the advice there about setting the bb to be around the amount of your starting stack size in the time frame you want your tourny to end.
i.e. if your starting stack is T-5000 and you want your tourny to last around 6 hours, then your bb at the 6 hour mark should be at or around 5K. I would imagine with 40 players though you may want to slightly more aggressive.

What part of the country you in :)
  16. im from new jersey. im not hosting a tourny some other kid asked i gave my thoughts. this other idiot with the 80216 blinds or whatever is just entertaining
  17. I just made a post (http://www.pocketfives.com/13AAC173-...4E4515423.aspx
) with a link to a utility that I created:

    http://blindvalet.fr/

I tried it for 40 players with 6 hours levels of 30 minutes and 200 starting chips (assuming you have chips of values 1, 5, 25, 100, etc) and it gives the following structure:
    <TABLE cellSpacing=2 cellPadding=2 width=500 bgColor=#01296f border=1><TBODY><TR><TD colSpan=3>Blind Structure
    </TD></TR><TR><TD>Level

  18. If you have chip values of 25,100,500,1000,5000,10000; and a starting stack of 5K, then it looks like this:

  19. The best thing that has ever happened to our home tourney is optional bounties. Sounds a little weird, but let me explain.

Each person has the option to give a bounty for him/herself. The bounty can be up to one buyin. That person keeps the money in front of him. When one person that has a bounty out knocks out another person that has a bounty out you can win the amount that you have in front of you.

ex. John has a $100 of bounty money in front of him. Jimmy has $250. John knocks Jimmy out and gets $100 bounty from Jimmy.

Also, when a player wins a bounty he can take the amount that he's won off the table or let it ride.

It adds another very interesting twist to the dynamics of the end of the tourney. As well as, adds a lot of value to the tourney for the better players.

  20. Wow, I like that idea! In our home game most of the people want to keep the stakes low but there a few of us that are willing to play for higher stakes. This would allow us to add some bigger $$$ for some players while keeping the overall tournament buy-in low.

    Thanks!
  21. all great ideas...thanks everyone

  22. The optional bounties idea sounds really good. Gives the players willing to play for higher stakes a bigger incentive, without eliminating the players there mainly for enjoyment. I'm definitely going to give that a go next home game.
