  1. Hey guys, this was a $1 rebuy on Lock. Mostly fish, although I think there are some good players out there in the crowd.

I'm not sure how to post hand histories from Lock, so I'll describe:

I'm in the BB with J8s. 200/400/40. I have about 18K and villain has about 9.6k. Villain is on the button and he raises to 875. With 1755 in the pot, I decide to call the 475. Villain seems pretty passive, I've been moderately active at the table.

Flop comes 109Qss. I figured I'm ahead by alot on this flop, and I decide to check. Villain checks behind.
Turn 10d putting a diamond draw out there as well. On this turn, I decide to start building the pot, so I put 1000 in. Villain folds.

I feel like I lost value here. Should I have checked the back the turn back? I though he would probably call me with a Q, or even A high after checking the flop. If I got lucky and he hit a 10, he would have shoved. Also, I thought maybe he thinks I'm weak and he might spaz shove with an under pair or some sort of draw here. If he checked back on the turn, would I have gotten more value out of A high, one pair type hands if I bet the river after checking both the flop and turn?

    Thanks.
  2. No your bet is fine. It's hard to make a hand in this game and when we do we always want to get paid off but a lot of the time we don't. Nh, bummer result, move on to the next.

  3. u check twice he might fire and u obv know yer hand is good or he wld of c bet the flop i wld check it but it isnt bad to bet either maybe he has a piece of it like three 10s
  4. you should fold preflop ... honestly this is a huge leak if you're flatting these hands so often out of position against shallow stacks (<25bb) and in general you will lose more often then you win..

I mean I could fold pre... def agree with that. But flatting a guy I could outplay post even OOP, and with about 4 to 1 from a button raise, I don't think it's terrible. I wasn't really afraid that I'll bet into him on the flop and he would jam me light. He struck me pretty much as the type of guy that would easily fold if he didn't hit. That's why I was asking if I should have checked the turn, but again I feel like these guys at the lower levels on Merge are not very likely to float the flop, but likely to do it on the turn with second pair, underpair or ace high or draw.

  6. One big (biggest ??) common mistake by low stake fish is to call with marginal holding. In order to exploit this weakness betting is mandatory, I don't mind your check as you are so strong that you like him to bluff there but checking the turn and specially when the T paired the board is a big mistake and a tremendous lost of value..
  7. Don't see anything wrong with this line.

+1 here... I'd rather 3 bet pre than flat with J8, i don't care who opens or how bad they are. J8 oop is a set-up for disaster imo..

  9. I actually would prefer to 3-bet here rather than fold. But agreed as others, calling preflop is not a good play. As played, the bet is fine.

  10. Alright cool. One more question: If I 3b here, do I make between 2200-2600? And I then fold to a 4b, correct?

  11. Imo your never 3bing here oop to the button raise. I feel flatting to see a relatively cheap flop is perfectly fine. 3b folding is bad imo. You might of wanted to throw a teaser out on the flop and let him try and re rep his initial open on the button.

Might be crazy but I like to think outside of the box.
  12. Generally a 4 bet at this level will not make him fold and you will miss the flop most of the time, what would be your plan otf ?? check/fold ??

Best play remain to fold pre unless you know he don't CB and fold to CB obv.
