I have issues keeping my emotions under control. It's one of the main things that's keeping me from getting results I want. I can handle a bad beat from time to time, as they are indicative of me playing well, and getting my money in ahead. However, when they pile up, especially when I'm multi-tabling, I just get frustrated and lose it.
Any tips on overcoming tilt issues? Especially with multi-tabling, as my anger carries on to the other tourneys. -
attend anger management

also only playing with one hand helps

deep breath, relax, live in the now.

Obviously I am realizing it's a major obstacle to overcome, and seeking advice for it. I wanted to see how people were able to adjust their attitude and improve their tilt control.

well tilting is a huge leak for me too...and what i found that i do wen i tilt is snap calling or snap betting....what i found that helps is if i take my time..i start taking like 10-15 seconds to make my bet or call...and i actually think....try this..trust me it will help
-
just keep in your mind that poker is a game of variance and you will overcome it, and in the long run you will be the one making money off those people while they deposit daily
-
hmm how do i keep from tilting?... i try to stand up straight =)..nah really i dont think i ever tilt.. You just got to say to urself everytime ur on the verge of tilting, to play ur A game...and think about the value of the tournament.. or w.e.. idk just chill..play frrealz

Also if you are multi-tabling and tilting you need to play fewer tables and not to chase your loses
-
just cherish your inner luckbox ..... its key

Well, there are a number of things you can do to safeguard your bankroll and personal items that might get damaged during a "tilt rage."
You said "I can handle a bad beat from time to time" "However, when they pile up, especially when I'm multi-tabling, I just get frustrated and lose it"
If you have entered the pile up zone and might lose it, do not, I repeat do not enter any more tourneys. Play out the ones you are aleady in and when you have either won or busted out of all those then log out of all poker sites, turn off your computer and leave the room. Go eat something, watch a movie, call a friend,(dont talk about poker) play w/ the dog or cat. Go to the gym and let off the steam constructively. If you cant go to the gym or for a swim, take the dog and go for a walk. Do not think or talk about poker for at least 4hrs. If this dosnt work when you return, dont play for a day. Then ask yourself when you return, Am I over those beats ? If the answer is yes go play if not dont play untill you can get over it and play level headed.
This should work, if not consider a new hobby, occupation. -
im a tiltbox too.. or well used to be im sorta getting over it. just slow things down, no quick calls, no quick bets, think about every play and the money on the line instead of the revenge you want to get..... and if that doesnt work just start punching things
-
One thing I do is I always keep in mind the last time I got lucky in any hand. This especially helps calm me if I sucked out to stay alive in the said tourney. I also try to envision positive outcomes for later on in the tourney or session, if I am still playing after taking a beat or two.

Best way not to tilt is after a bad beat, stand up and walk to your stove (gas or electric does not matter) light it up and burn the shit out of your index finger. You will be in so much pain that you will forget about the bad beat and probably not play for a few hours.
Serious though..... I posted this in another similar thread, if you have space to get one, buy a punching bag, and a good pair of gloves. Best stress reliever money can buy.......
