How do you learn to multiitablle without missing important stuff? I just got gutted again when I didn't notice that there were three to the flush on the board. I've made that mistake several times when there are a couple of tables competing for my immediate attention.

When you first start multi-tabling it is important to add tables slowly so you can get better at being able to read the situations better. You are also going to have to play a little more abc poker untill you feel really comfortable. If you arent comfortable MTing then you don't want to be trying really fancy plays and whatnot.
Also, its important to accept the fact that when you MT you are inevitably going to miss some information that might be available to you if you are focusing on one table. -
Other than adding tables slowly, here are things that helped me
1) Use the 4 color deck. That helps to stick flushes out a bit more.
2) Try to focus on the table with the action, to keep up (when possible)
3) If you have time, try to take a few seconds to review the board, make sure you don't miss anything
4) Take notes on any showdowns
5) A backup program can help a lot, gathering information for notes for stuff you may miss.
This is obviously not an exhaustive list, but it's a start. -
Basically you just focus on the one you either care about most or you are the most desperate in. The rest you will glance at and take notes between hands. At each table ill be able to spot the guys who arent tight and i have to worry about because they will stick out. Your going to miss alot of key information playing any more than 4 tables (just my opinion) but its the price u pay for being able to play 4+. Its a sacrifice you give up a lil equity and your roi goes down long run but you make more money too.

if your playing a cash table or sng I would look to find the players who are sitting at more than 1 tables w/ you and keep note of them. also try to keep a close eye on the showdown hands and who was in them. If your playing sngs try to keep a close watch on tables that are cloe to the bubble or ITM.

One important thing is to take your time. When it is on me at a table and i am facing a big bet, i will just go around folding other crappy hands on other tables while i think. Also, make sure you have a big enough monitor and have a four color deck. This will ensure that you are reading the board well. Finally, just play premium hands and try not to get involved in too many huge pots at the same time unless you have big hands. It is really hard to play two + big hands at the same time. The worst thing (a lot of people will have a hard time understanding this) is when you have aces/kings on 3-4 tables at the same time. This happens to me about every other session and if you have to play these hands more than 2 of these hands at the same time (while folding on 20 other tables) it can be extremely difficult.
But my advice to someone who plays between 2-8 tables is to take it slow and add 2 tables at a time. I went from 2 to 4 to 6 in the same day, but I didn't move up to 9 tables for probably two or three weeks. It was another week before i was up to 12, and about a month or two before i went to 20. And about two months before switching to 24. All I am saying here is that multitabling is a gradual climb and you really have to get used to the idea of making quick decisions and concentrating for long periods of time. It is definately a marathon, not a sprint.
