  1. Wanted to get opinions on how to play this hand. It might be straight forward for most of you but I was just wanting to see how others play it. The opponent had been playing loose most of the game. All input would be appreciated.

    Whats your line here.

    a) Check and go to the showdown.

    b) Value bet river.

If you value bet river and he shoves all in do you call??
  2. So most ppl might tell you this is a fold PF. But, I would say it's ok to limp along hoping to hit a big hand.

That said... Second pair isn't a big hand. Still I think you were priced in to a call after the flop. You aren't investing a lot of chips to see the turn.

The turn brought either the best card in the deck, or the worst. Plus, since it's a limped pot, I think it's possible the guy in front of you has AT, I wouldn't polarize his range there, but it is in his range. People love to limp with weak aces, especially suited ones.

Still, I think you absolutely had to bet. I might have bet a little more, but I don't mind the line.

The river is a pretty bad card. A heart draw makes sense and with a straight on the board, a check by a trappy opponent is more than likely, plus, you have the straight to worry about.

This is one of those situations where you are either way ahead, or way behind. A value bet is called that because you are trying to get a worse hand to cal you. To give you value for your better hand. In this situation, I think it's unlikely you'll get called by a worse hand.

Even worse, a smart opponent could check raise you with complete air and put you in a disgusting spot. This is one of those occasions where you are never going to get action by someone unless they have you crushed.

    So, to answer your question:

    a) Check Behind.
    b) no way
    c) Fold to a shove, there is nothing you can really beat here.

    My 2c...
  3. Sounds weak but I think checking it down might be very reasonable. obv u can't call action and there is a reasonable chance he will give it -- with the flush or even the str; and most bets you make will be very unlikely to be paid off (unless they are so small they are hardly worth the risk of hism check r you off your better hand or some such).

  4. Thanks for the input. I ended up deciding to check the river and he flipped AQ giving me the best hand. I was wanting to see if my check on the river was a weak play or a good one due to the potential Straight and Flush out there.

  5. Check 100% of the time. If you have him beat he will not call a bet, if he has you beat you get called or reraised. So effectively you will not be able to win more chips here, while you can lose a lot more chips by betting. That's my reasoning for checking here.
  6. check behind on the river
  7. I can't think of a hand that is worse than yours that calls a river bet....unless you have a read and this is a very bad player who is calling with AK or AQ (just about the only two hands that you beat there), you have to check behind.
