Im interested in playing live game of Omaha with my friends instead of Holdem every week. I cant seem to convince them to try it, but this might be because I dont know a lot about it myself. It looks like a lot of fun to me though.
Anybody have any positive points I can use in my argument to them? -
I was in the same predicament last week. Still no answer.

me and my friends used to play holdem religiously when we were in high school. But now we play omaha and omaha h/l home games as well and it creates a lot more intresting hands then NL holdem does. I think both games are stupid but there fun to play wih friends especially ones who have no idea how to play omaha h/l properly

I think Omaha will be a bit easy, it's when it comes time to convince my friends to play razz with me I think will be most difficult.

How about some HO? One round of hold'em and then Omaha. Repeat as needed. --J

I play cash games with my friends at school. We used to just play hold'em but I hated playing with them because they'd bet a ton even with crappy hands. so I never felt comfortable calling anything.
Now that we play Omaha I just sit on the nuts and make bank. Just tell them there's a lot more action because it's like hold'em on steroids, 2 cards instead of 4. Plus, it's incredibly fun to see people make hands using 3 cards from their hand :D -
Tell them its Holdem with 4 cards obv
-
tell them its all about draws and flopping the nuts sucks. theyll love that
-
Show them David Benyamine's lifetime NLH earn, then show them his PLO earn. They'll think anyone can play it.
-
scotty if this works tell me what you did
my friends refuse to play a game with me that they feel they have no knowledge on and i hold a huge edge (which i already do in NLHE anyway) -
i finally got my friends to play omaha and razz. now they love both games.
-
i wouldn't suggest this if it was a homegame, calculating the pot and how much you can raise and all that shit by yourselves is gonna be annoying, especially with noobs.
-
fuck PL , nl omaha FTW!
-
No means no. Sure it starts off let's play some Omaha, then they get bored of that and they need a new fix maybe then you get them to try Stud. Omaha is a gateway game, pretty soon they'll be playing *gasp* razz begging for that final 7 so they can crack a 8 low as they watch hoplessly while their last paycheck they need to support their illegitimate child seems so far away even though it's only a few inches in front of them.
You don't sound like a "friend" at all to me. -
Hey...psst..let me get a 1/2 of omaha, nah..nah..,the 8ob.
Omaha sells itself, hell, go old school and get some dealers choice in there. -
i went through the same thing and now they love it. like someone said i started it out by
playing 1 round of each. i guess it helps the game is at my house. now everytime im
stuck money, i suggest we play omaha! -
