How Hypocritical is the Chat Police?

    There has been a lot of debate lately about what is correct to type at a table. The Poker sites have decided to be the moral police for their sites using cute little software that doesn't allow us to use some of our favorite swear words so some players have came up with creative things to say that won't be blocked. Last time I checked, we are all adults so if we don't like something another person says, they give us this nice little feature called the block chat button then the sensitive person that is offended by the vile nature of the typed words on his computer will never see those words from that person again.
    Alas, the poker sites think that is not enough, many players are receiving chat bans because they type things that other people think are offensive. The sites in their infinite wisdom are using the same line of thought that the U.S. Congress used to pass the unlawful gambling act which has put their own sites at risk. Congressmen and women think that adults don't know how to make decisions for themselves and must be told what is best for them. Congress thinks that internet gambling is immoral so they have decided to try to stop it and the sites have decided that making statements like "get cancer" are immoral so they try to stop it with chat bans. I personally am sick and tired of other people telling me what is correct and what is incorrect and here is my solution to the whole chat problem.
    The poker sites response to any complaint made about inappropriate chat should be we're sorry that you were offended but that is why we have given you the block chat button for a particular player, please use this option so you are never offended by him again. Now the question to all of you is how do we get the sites to adopt this new measure? Perhaps, a boycott by all of the top players who agree with this idea for a day or a move to a site that doesn't use the chat police if such a site exists.

    lol....all the top players are not gonna boycott the site because of there chat policy. that being said...i def dont think you should ever get a lifetime chat ban..thats just redic....i currently have a lifetime chat ban on fulltilt and its part of the reason why i rarely play there ne more.

    First off, I don't think it's cool and I have never made a statement like that to another player. But, I think a poker site is one of the few places where political correctness should not be. Who is anyone else to decide what is "offensive", if you don't like what the person is saying, just block their chat, how hard is that?

    If you fancy a rant and rave then head over to sites on the Boss network. Poker Heaven, Virgin Poker, KS Poker...etc.

    These sites have no restriction on language used. So everything you wrote will appear as typed.
    You can be as much of an arsehole as you want, and I have only notched up 1 chat ban in 4 years (and I think evertime I bust out of a tourney I call the Villian some word of another)

    There is more chance of being chat banned for speaking french on a $$$ table, than for calling someones mum a fat Biatch!

    I say stupid things allll the time. If someone were to rat me out. Oh well, my bad. I will deal with the consequences. Sometimes I think some of the ranked players think just because they are awesome in Poker, they are holier than thou! If someone were to say something stupid to me live, I will say something right back. If someone were to say get Aids, I would just say " I can only do that if I stick it in your moms ass". I would do it online or live, and if they ban me they ban me. My cousin died of Aids, but he was funny as hell and would laugh at these comments, and give it back just as good. But all these guys that stick up for a ranked player because he is ranked, is funny to me. Aids is not funny. Below is funny. He got his chat banned, and realistically based on the rules of stars, he deserves it. And I am sure when he did he said to himself, " I am an idiot". Most people are good at heart and I don't think if he had the power to give people Aids with his words, he would do it. And if he were to ever tell me to get Aids, I would bend over and moon him and tell him to stick it right there. And then take a dump on him.
