to book a win in a 1000+ field tourney? I prob played 1300 of them and dont even think i have a top 3 finish lol. curious to see how long it took u guys
-
I booked my first 1423 field R&A on December 10, 2006, win. I won without taking any R&A's. I was playing 2 or 3 per week starting in August. I had several other ITM fiinishes (No R&A's taken).
I haven't booked another large field win since. All though, I don't play them regularly anymore. High variance and I can make more money in SnG's & rings. -
bout 6 months but i seriously luckboxed it and in the end was very bad thing to have happened lol :)
-
I took down a 12000 player freeroll pretty much my first day. Haven't run good since lol.

I started playing on poker stars in mid April and got my first win in early in September. Ok there was only 999 people so it wasn't 1000+ but close enough. A couple of weeks later I nailed second place finish and this tourney was just under 1000 as well. Since then my highest finish in a tourney with over 1000 is 25th/2997. Currently I am showing 292 tournaments on OPR but less than half of these had a field size greater than 1000. I would estimate that back in September when I won my first tournament that I had played less than 100 tournaments with a field size of 1000 or more and probably closer to 50.
Prior to this I played on party poker for a few months but aside from the 300k they seldom have any tournaments with over 1000 people, well maybe the 1 and 2 dollar games but I never even look at those. My best finish on Party was second in a field size of around 600. That was back in July. -
i got 2nd in hubbles free role a few years ago 15k field
-
I won my 24th ever online MTT and it had 1,644 runners. My 2nd win in a 1000+ player field came about 2,000 MTTs later. Quite a span.

i remember taking down a freeroll with like 5k entrants in my first like 6 months of playing. god knows how bad i played that tourney
-
Yesterday I played a $1 2900 man MTT, had about 30-40 times the bb from 1000-100 players left, but just lost it at the end, got short stacked and ended up running into AK when trying to steal and went out 30th. It was pretty brutal. I think that's about my best finish in a 1000+ tourny. =[

got 4th in a field of 5K. Never knew someone could win that many flips, and hit crucial runner runners.
-
Still never done it. Closest I've been is 5th....once, but thats because i'm pants
-
took me about a year, won the 10r on stars in January and then won it again in June. Ive FT prolly about 10 others with 1000+ ppl
-
Not positive but i think 5th is my best finish as well, and i can prob count on 1 hand how many final tables i have.

Anyway, reason for my post. Do you guys think they are worth it or to much varience? -
I Think they are def worth it, its all about playing at a level you are comfortable at! I am slowly Learning that.
And for me winning tournys, umm my best is a 1024 field entry but that was when i played 2 dollar games, it was the quintuple shootout. Sense then ive final tabled the 11 dollar tourny on stars which is normally right around 1K people 4 times now, 2 of which were 2nd place and 4th place. Um other than that a 31st place finish in the sunday million. then the super tuesday satty top 12 got in idk if that counts, i took the money so that was 1K. and then i FT a 109 tourny.
Not very good at finishing as you can tell, seems like their is that 1 crucial hand that gets me every time in the 11 dollar tourny. I get to like 50 left and i always get in good but get sucked out on, QQ will lose to A10 or something. Just really bad luck i guess. -
it took me close to150 times to win two of those huge .50 and 1.00 tourneys with over 2500-3300 players in each on stars
-
At the end of October I won my first MTT with about 1k players. I've been playing since 06' but haven't but near enough volume in mtt's with fields of this size. Usually play sng's.

took me 2 1/2 years of playing......and i still havent won a fuking tourney
my best finishover 1000 players is
2/1127 in the Daily Double -A in october 2008
and a some 10 -20place finishes......gets so frustrating!!!!!!! -
still tryin myself
-
Got my first and only 1000+ field win in June about four months after starting to play online. My first Sunday hundred thousand on PS. Since then I have come close a couple of times in the Daily's and Midnight Madness on FT but what I have noticed is that for me to get to those points I have to run ridiculously well. That said I have been playing live poker with the occasional tourney for more than a decade so count the time as you will.
