Recently I have been playing the $10r to the Nightly Hundred Grand and the $5r to the Nightly 70k. I have been doing very well, cashed about 4/8 in the Nightly Hundred Grand satties, and 3/9 in the Nightly 70k satties. I OPR'd a few players that I have seen frequently in these, specifically BlunderCity. He seems to strictly play these. So my question is can you make your money strictly playing these satellites (and either selling T$ or grinding sng's with it)?
-
yes you can and i know a few people who don't like to talk about this as poker sites don't want you beating the rake at the end of the day "shhhh"
-
theyre absolutely insurance policy for your br

I am by no means a great player, but I have built my bankroll multiple times using satellites to do it. I play a lot of the 8+.80 DS sats to the sunday million (unfortunately pokerstars moved these off the front page and now they fill so much slower) and when I win I unregister from the tournament. Then I play enough cash sng's to rebuild whatever I spent out of my account (if I used cash to play the satellites because a lot of times i'm using previously earned T$) . If I used T$ to play the tournaments and was fortunate enough to win more T$ then I'll usually play a set amount of cash sng's (5) to build up more cash.
I also take the occasional chance at MTT's (mostly Omaha) when I have a fair amount of T$ built up to win some more cash. The other tournament that is easy to win some T$ with are the 36+3 to the sunday million (especially the two on sunday mornings)
Hope this helps, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. -
I personally like runninig the sng sats like the 22 hyper turbos and such payouts are 1 and 2 get a seat into the $55 70k and 3rd gets their money back i think its a great way to build if you know push fold poker as you only get 750 chips and 3 min levels

Seems like any other money seeking endeavour. Just like whether you play cash, sngs, mtts or some mix. Wherever that balance of multitabling and ROI% hits its vertex point... and whether its higher or lower than the points of other endeavours...

I wrote a blog about how much I love satellites this weekend
http://www.pocketfives.com/mephisto/weekend-update-double-shoot-outs-rule-3563438
I just started playing them but they are soft so far (after a bad Sunday I added two more tickets yesterday in addition to the stats listed in the blog post)
So far 7 seats won in 54 satellites, curious to see where I'm at when I have a larger sample size. -
Satellites are for suckers, nobody makes money on them.
FTR 10rt to 162 is almost as profitable as the 36r, but like I said nobody makes money on these. -
Not sure which sats you are playing but 7/54 is rather low.

Double Shootouts. If 144% ROI is low, I'll live with it.

OMG 7/54 in DS is outstanding. You really should play the 10rt @ 18:15 and the 36r @ 19:35

Good players build their BR with T$ then go on to win the FTOP 4 for 138K -
What the monkey said - I swear satties are for suckers - Ive never made any money in them, especially significantly over 5 figures this year alone. Come on. As it is I need to figure out those silly hyper turbos and bankroll will really go nuts. Cya in the 36r monk you bsb.

Read, i said pokersites don't want you beating the rake ( Sats > Rake )
-
Is there a good solid list of the Sats? Monkey Cowboy wrote an article or post about a year or so ago. I am sure that they have changed by now.

OPR aprilsfool or just search him on PS... this guy is a plat star and plays just about only satties
-
Yeh, I've played with him before. He is a monster!!! For the record I won another satty tonight to the Nightly 100k and didn't rebuy, so 21->162 :) This makes me 4/10 in satties to the Nightly 100k. I'm thinking this could be a good route to go either that or I'm just on a sick heater!

Your on a sick heater saties are impossible to make any money!
