  1. It seams like the vast majority of accomplished players are math geniuses. Add Will Ma to the list. I am wondering just how big of an advantage is it to be mathmaticly inclined? Thoughts...

  3. Its better to be able to understand the basic theories of poker than to know math very well, imo.
     
  4. Just because your good at math doesn't make you a genius.
  5. I would guess it's not necessarily their comprehension of math in itself that helps them destroy online MTT's. It's more likely that the same qualities needed to excel in math, a very precise and analytical personality, are helpful in mastering poker.

    So the math is helpful here but understanding upper-level calculus doesn't really benefit anyone on the poker table. It's more that the same people who breeze through math class are inclined toward card games.

  8. necessary poker math is extremely basic math for the most part... like someone said it's not like calculus or anything helps you at the table, you just need to be able to add and multiply on the spot and be good with ratios, odds and probability
