confusing as hell, dont know why the fck he would take the time to calculate it out, but cool nonetheless. sometimes explains why i get moved 3 or 4 times before playing a hand sometimes.

Thank You!
I once mailed support asking how they broke tables in MTT's, they replied ultra-promptly with the response...
"We break some tables because as players get knocked out, some tables have less players and we need to break others to balance this out."
I decided against mailing them back as my brain was overloaded with sarcastic responses. -
Been wanting to know if there was any formula for a while...

How is it possible that all the big stacks get moved to the same table?
Anyone that thinks it's random has obv never made it down the last 2-3 tables. -
Interesting, but I wish they had a better method for doing it. They should look to balance out the amount of chips at each table and make it close to even.
I don't know how many times i've had a stack in the top 5-10% in an MTT in the middle stages, and i'm sitting at a table with 3 other players in that same range...it's unbelievable. I think they need to make a better algorithm then just basing it on the timing of when people bust out.
Once there are 9 empty seats total in the tournament, it should run a script that looks at every players stack at the tables with the empty seats, then determines which table has the furthest deviation from the average amount of chips per table, and split it up by moving the bigger stacks to the tables that are furthest below average, and the smaller stacks to the tables that are furthest above average. -
Do they do that in live tournaments? I don't think they should go out of their way to balance the tables any differently. If you play in a real tournament, you might find yourself stuck at a table with a few big stacks and an above-median table average.
It's just part of variance. It balances out in the long run given the number of times you have an average stack and end up at a table with a bunch of below-average stacks and are actually the table leader (or close to it) even though you don't have a "big stack." I've seen this happen just as many times as I've been stuck with a bunch of big stacks. -
Thanks for posting that, enjoyed.

Haha.
That's hilarious coming from someone who thinks the rig the deck. If they rig the cards however they want, why would they need to bother also rigging the table balancing?
Is there anything they do that's not rigged, bud? -
In no way should they attempt to balance out the chips. It should be all random to make it a real tourney.

Its all rigged! F online poker!

My wife and I were playing in a live tournament last weekend. When it was time to go to two tables, one table controled about 60% of the chips in play (avg stack was 7k and they had several people well above that there).
So no, its all random draw. The way the tournament director did it their is everyone gets a card, and the high card gets the first seat in the stack, which is shuffled up too. Pure random. Luckily my wife was not at the big stack table. -
It's been my experience most casinos (every casino I have ever played in) have a pre-designated table break order (whether they make it public or not is their business). If it is public, then you know exactly when your table is going to break. Generally they break the tables closest to whereever they have cash games running, so they can get those empty tables full of people paying a rake ASAP, it's not rocket science. It may be "random" as to where you go, but the order in which you go isn't.
