hi all
been trying to make additition / switch to heads up - really like it a lot so far playing mostly hu sngs - just curious about the play in both games - differences, similarities, advice on strategies, etc. I'll probably think of other questions but thought I would get the discussion started and go from there - thx all -
Build br from SnG's. Majority of low/medium stakes HU's are just spewtards who are too scared to play full ring

too scared to play full ring? how is playing hu less scary? you have to play so many more hands and have to play oop more. i'd think that if you are some what scared, you could hide easier and pick your spots to better suit your comfort level easier by playing full ring.

Scared = maybe not the best word...
People doubt their abilities and feel that they have more chance of winning vs. 1 player than 8... -
husngs are systematic after the first few blind levels and hu cash is the most advanced, purest form of poker there is once you get to high enough stakes. If you learn to play great in the early levels of husngs and then play unexploitably later, you'll be a very rich man. HU cash takes a lifetime to learn super well unless you have all day to play. There's a Moshman book out on hu cash and the SAGE pushing chart for husngs ftw. I'd also get PokerVT to watch Negreanu play hunsgs if you wanna learn a simple way to play the early levels from the most entertaining guy who teaches the concept, but you can find a video or something about them on most training sites now. husng.com might be a good investment if you decide you wanna be serious about them.

HU cash >>>>>>>harder than HUsngs

no money hu. everyones solid

I've played a dec amount of both and find HU NL/PLO cash to be the most interesting games by far but at the same time they are also the most difficult to become remotely good at. You will probably be able to find more success playing hu sngs especially if you're coming from a full ring tourney/sng background because a lot of the same concepts you have already been using will apply immediately. Moving to HU cash is going to be a totally new form of poker for you to learn so it's obviously going to require a bigger commitment. If you decide you want to learn it anyway I would recommend watching applicable training videos even if most of them are geared toward higher stakes. I would also recommend proper bankroll management which can be different for everyone but I like having around 50 buy ins because even at the lower limits massive swings are possible. I'd also suggest not skipping any levels even if you have the money to do so. Start at .25-.50 cent and work your way up. Most of the people who play that small are pretty bad so you should be able to beat those games even at the outset and just keep building from there. It would also help a lot to find some people who play the same kind of games you are playing to share HH and run ideas by. Maybe posting some of your hands on the other forum that has more cash players wold be helpful. Basically what I'm saying is taking on a new form of poker is always going to be difficult especially this specific transition so be ready to spend some time and possibly money to learn them. Gl.
