So I'm playing in a tourney at a friend's house and it's six handed. I'm in the big blind when the small blind gets eliminated. i always assumed that the button is moved to me and i skip the small blind but they said the button stays where the eliminated player was and i am still the small blind.

This is the casino way as far as i know. It's up to the house rules, but i think its pretty standard.

In live poker the button is effectively 'dead' and you post SB.
On stars, I'm pretty sure the button just moves to you and you get to skip the SB... Has this changed? -
