i have an account at cardrunners and my mtt game has improved a ton, but yet i still lose, i can't build a bankroll for shit....im sick of playin for $5-$50 sngs, mtts and cash games, but the thing is i crush live tourneys the past 5 live tourneys from $50- $200 buyins ive cashed and won 1 time, 2 of them i had the worst run of cards ever, and managed to finish 2nd both times, and one tourney i played 3 hands and took 3rd....these are tourneys with 5 tables at the min and 10 at the most...but yet, online i get crushed left and right, worst hand always winning, im never sucking out over 750 sngs the past month and half and i have lost 2nd-9th place with the best hand bette rthen 51% edge 91.2% of the time im all in, i cannot figure it out....
this is why i am afraid to put money on to play big limits, because i know im just gonna get donked....i watch stinger, AJ and greenplastic videos, all the time, i read the forums, but yet i feel like my game is too good online to win...ill make the right calls with the best hand someone is bluffing me, bang they hit their card and i lose, i risk my chips with the best hand being the favorite bam i lose....but live, its like i can't lose when im running horrible or running good.... i just dont get...i cannot figure it out -
Dont worry--since online poker is goona be over soon :) Be lucky you are better at Live

I have the same sort of problem. What I noticed was how much more attention I play live. I am able to read people so much better live almost down to their two cards. Online with out the tells, mannerisms, their dress. It is tougher to field them. So two things.
1. Start taking detailed notes on your oponents. This will cause you to pay more attention to your online opponents. (I have noticed I have had far more cashes taking notes than not, even at that micro limits where I never play the same person twice.)
2. Many of the great online and live players play situations better than their opponents. So use the card calculator to figure out odds helps alot too. -

i'm more comptetive live in my brief future hall of fame career.

You do realize that placing 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd in 5 live tournaments is an insanely good run, right? What happens when you stop running so well at live poker? If you'd like to take my advice, I'd say set aside about $300 on stars (or some other site that has a lot of SnG's), and start 10-tabling $5.50/$6.50 SnG's until you realize that poker is all about hard work and not about good/bad Fortune.
You could do the same thing live, but reality will probaby dawn on you a lot quicker via online poker due to volume. It might take you A YEAR to realize your edge at live poker isn't even close to what you think it is right now (no personal knock on you, it's just that poker is what it is). -
You ask where to turn to? I think your answering that yourself. Just focus on playing live instead of online. There could be many reasons why do better live than online. Maybe you concentrate better live because you have only one-table to worry about. Maybe you are good at reading people. The list could go on. If you are truly a better live player then obviously that needs to be your focus. Online play is not the end-all be-all of poker. Many, many people made money before the online rush playing live, and people will continue to make money live for many years to come. And you know something this may be a perfect time to focus on your live game because of all the non-sense going on with online poker. My advice, focus on your live game. Take the time to search for soft cash games while continuing to improve your live MTTs. And think many of these online players who started playing when they were under 21 will start becoming of age to play live, that should increase the population in the live games. Just something to consider. Good Luck!

playing some Stud Cash has made me a force
in Live and Online: -
I found readjusting my mouse settings helped me especially during turn and river cards. Put your cursor on the top right of your screen and you'll get 41% increase and beat the dogs.

like i said ive only played 5 tournaments as of late, seens how i just turned 21....and i am planning on playin the smaller events at the WPT foxwoods poker classic as well....
the tournaments i have played are against people who have no care for the $200 and play just as bad as teh $5 mtt/sng players online....there are 3-4 of them who play online $100+ buyins and are losing players overall online, but get lucky live because they dont care about the money, 4 of the players in our regular tournament are professional athletes who could care less about $200 when they make more then that a day...the rest are comprised of business owners, and big time employees of new channels and radio stations....so these players will raise J9os in any position on the table, or just call you down, their not all that amazin or will put moves on you like big time players like yourself gboro -
no im not sayin its rigged Dhubermax, i made that post when i was on tilt and such, yeah i made a dumb post whoopdy doo....and i could careless if ppl still bring it up, i mean the only reason i joined this site, was to think it would help me get better, but yet its helped me hate most the people on here, some people ive met through here are cool but yet there is a lot of top players that are dicks, and dhubermax never thought you would be the one to be a dick but hey, i guess its online....
i was making the reference that im playin the same players but its different settings, seens how im playin online in one setting, and live in the other setting....and i never said online poker is rigged, i know its not...so whatever
hey dhubermax is negreanu running extremely hot too, becuase what doesnt he have 3 or 4 FT's this year already and in 2004 he dominated, and i guess men the master ran insanely hott for 2 straight years in live poker winning PLayer of the Year back to back huh??....so i guess that means that Doyle, Chan, and Hellmuth been runnin hott for the past 15-20 years becuase they have 10 WSOP bracelets...but what do i know? -
yeah, dhubermex is better communicating live than online. he's mexican and there is a language barrier.

You aren't that good. Never compare yourself to a Pro you chump.

people think that i am a nice guy because of the way that i project myself. i am the furthest thing from a nice guy. i wouldnt hesitate to break a cue stick over a guys neck for looking at me the wrong way. i was a nasty son of a bitch, I AM a nasty son of a bitch. and thats probably why my family hates me and my daughters dislike me a great deal. everything i ever had in this world is down the toilet. i have nothing. i came into this world with nothing and i will die with nothing. -
easy now, i know dhuber is a pro, but you didn't have to say I wasn't good too!
-
Thanks alot. Why don't you just rock me to sleep tonight iceman. That post will haunt my dreams for eternity. GG

i CRUSH No Mercy in live poker.
does that count ?? -
either that or he's not playing high enough where the plays he is used to making are working. either trust yourself enough to put enough online to play at levels you're used to playing, or start working on playing more straightforward than normal just because the kind of innovative plays you'd make higher up won't work at lower buy-ins.
either that, or your recent live success is just a hot run, and you may end up losing there too recently. i have no clue, since i didn't see how long you've been playing up there (and am not reading the whole thread just to see if you made mention), and whether you've been consistently winning other than these five tournaments.
