what was the leak you found?

i had one too yesterday. I realized that I was getting more aggressive by the day and have gotten out of control. I was shoving way too light and not giving anyone credit and making too many heroe calls. i guess too aggressive is better then too passive though. I felt like ive been playing like a monkey since like october and probably explains my sick downswing in mtts

This, except I run good, so it explains my sick upswing.

i think ive also been on tilt since september when on the day pikappraider shipped the 750k i took 13th in it and 10th in the big 100r on stars. and lost both ak<aj and ak<a9. that day changed my life for the worse lool

the sickest thing is that i made my name after his back when he was grindin 1 dollar rebuys and wanted to rep our fraternity. and 78 for july 8th for my bday. little did i know that i would be getting confused for mister ship every big tournament ever

JD, u need to stop dwelling on the bad beats, nothing positive will come from it. Focus on the hands that u missplayed. Dwelling on bad beats is a leak in itself imo (i know because I suffer from it too) GL in ur grind

SWD...your right bro. you speak the truth. I am just yearning to get outplayed for my tournament life instead of sucked out on. The first one is easier to accept. I'm not normally one to even flinch at bad beats..theres just been a ton of money left on the table for a guy who doesn't have the 6 figure bankroll a lot of these ballers do. I believe my time will come, otherwise I wouldn't put in the grind everyday. Thanks for the advice tho as you are right, I am being too results orientated...if i get the money in good, i get it in good..period.

As for the leak that I plugged, it was really a revisiting of several assumptions i made about how I play and how to play a tournament about two years ago when I first started playing more often. Over the last few months of talking to other players, watching tournaments, and refining my game, I had some ah ha moments that turned those assumptions upside down and has me looking at my approach to the game and the game itself in a whole new light, and I have made a ton of adjustments as a result.

I will be happy to go over a lot of these ah ha moments in the next few months, and I think a lot of what I contribute here will help a lot of P5 members. Unfortunately, as I am still retooling my game and closing the leak(s), they are still slightly exploitable by the high stake mtt'ers and I can't go into too much detail until I am certain the leaks no longer exist or are exploitable.

But, just to give you guys an idea, i'll talk about a leak i closed a while ago. Say i'm holding 1010 in a pot where there are a few limpers and the blinds..maybe antes. There is enough in the pot that it makes a decent addition to your stack. A year ago, I probably would have raised huge, just trying to take the pot down. This was mostly cuz i knew that if i made a standard raise to account for the limpers, that one or two of the limpers would call cuz they were such bad players..probably with hands like kj and A8.

My ah ha moment in this situation is that the real question I should be asking myself is do i have a significant edge on those players post flop. If the answer is no, then maybe a take down the pot raise makes the most sense, but if the answer is yes..then i am not maximizing my profit with 1010 longterm by just taking down the pot. I maximize my value by giving me more streets to get more money in the pot trusting that i can get away when behind and maximize profit when ahead. This ah ha moment made me never shy away from players worse than me, in fact..now i seek them out and make bet sizing that reels them in.

Now..my eureka moment was big. So much so that it has completely thrown the way i view tournament poker upside down, and I have made more changes in my game in last month than in the past year. As soon as I have some sik scores to justify my eureka moment was correct and i'm certain my leak is no longer exploitable, I will be happy to share it with the community.

his point is, he hasn't misplayed many hands, just got unlucky.

seems to be fairly standard in these situations where you go up against a terrible player with the best hand until 5th street when he's all in on a 254 with ace high, you have pKK he bets flop for 900 you have 3500 chips left and shove, he insta calls and hits his ace on the river.

if i truly thought i was a bad player i'd admit it, i've improved alot.

to many times i'm ahead and lose to a player who doesn't fold their weak draw or mid pair.

when you run bad, you run bad, but poker is just not my luck.
