  1. So I have been playing online for about a year, I've made decently significant profit twice (significant for me means around $500, I understand that is not significant for a lot of the players on here) and cashed out to pay some bills and some living expenses...I work as a Production Assistant in TV and do not make a lot of $$$ and I am in a bit of a dilemma because I don't have the time really in my life to spend tons of time slowly building up a bankroll by playing very low limit $5sng or something....BUT I also don't have the bankroll to jump right into $50 tourneys and trying to win for big prizes....SO, where do you guys think the fine balance is? I was thinking the new $4 180mans on pstars are good because they are low and i should be able to play pretty high in it for hopefully a pay day of $70 or more for a small investment...but part of me really wants to play the $20 180mans or the $35 6man sng where I think I could probably clean up...but my $90 bankroll that I have right now is wayyyy too small to play in a $20 or a $35 right? What about a $3 rebuy tourney with unlimited entrants? Last night I finished 30th in a $10 - 1,743 on pstars for a payday of $61 (ugh, wanted more!) and that is how I got up to 90.......

Sorry for a bit of a rant, just unsure exactly where to go from here with my poker career and any input or insight from fellow more experienced players would help me greatly, thanks!!!!
  2. wow thanks for the tip about 4 dollar 180s. 1st place is 216 bucks, not bad. I didn't know they existed. It says they only run from 12am to 5pm. thats kinda weird.
  3. if i were you I would play $10 SNG's, you could go broke real quick as it's only good enough for 8 SNG's but screw it you only live once. With a one or two first places in those 8 tries you should be able to build a tiny bit of a roll.
Anything below $10 you probably won't have the patience to mine the donks
Anything above $10 and one or two SNG's could wipe you out.

Just my two cents if I were you, im sure others will think this is too aggressive of a strategy but if you don't have the time to slowly build a roll this is what i would do.
    good luck,
    paul

**You could also do some bonus whoring, but depositing $90 at a site won't get you a great bonus***
  4. A few months ago I was really low on my pokerstars account and found the $3. + .40 10-man SNG turbos to be an easy way to build a small bankroll. Play tight and wait for hands and 1/2 the field donks their way to bust really quickly. Double up once and you are in decent shape to cash. Get aggressive when the blinds get high (and it happens quickly) and you are in good shape.

I don't think the $20 or $36 SNG strategy is too smart with a bankroll of $90. My modest bankroll is in the very low 4 figures and I won't spend over $20 for a SNG or MTT. Maybe I need to loosen up.....
  5. That is exactly how i got my start; i made a list of tourneys that i could enter with a bankroll of varying sizes; my old cheat sheets says with a roll of 150 and less i would not enter anything greater than penny ring games, nothing more than 5 dollar sitngos and 5 dollar mtt; i would not allow myself to enter anything with a rebuy;; this has served me well
  6. Good advice from a good player

  8. Read Fox's bankroll management article. Best advice I can give you. Search this forum for it, don't have an exact link.
  9. i agree with the 3.40 turbos, I played those, and then the 6.50 turbos, then the 16s, then the 27s, and now the 33 and 55 speeds on party
  10. Okay... Heres what you do. This method has been developed, and tested a lot of times, by me and my brother.

Put it all on red! You'll double your money and you can even do it more times. You'll know when you did it once too many.
  11. party poker blackjack...its a guarantee...lol just kididng

try the 6 dollar turbos on stars. they are pretty easy.

if i were you, id stay out of the ring games at least til you build up a little...the reason i say that is because (at least to me) micro ring games are soooooo frustrating. much more so than low level sngs.
  12. withdraw it to neteller, deposit into party poker, put it all on one bet of blackjack. if you win, take another $35 bet, and bet. if you win, take the $215 and play next next sunday (the first april tournament) on stars, don't chop, and turn it into $150k+. i'd estimate your specific odds of doing just this at...

    probably close to 20,000-1?

oh fuck, you wanted a good way to spend your money. n/m.
