  1. i pretty consistently make the top 10% of online tourneys and live games i make it to the final table 90% of time.

here is my dilemna and this happens more online that live.

i will be in the top 10-20% of the final 20 or so % and i sware to God, i do the same crap every single time and i don't know why!??? i will hold big slick or pocket rockets or kings and raise, someone calls all-in and i call and i loose to some crap hand! in fact, i just lost my stack twice to pocket kings.. i raised the first one just to see what would happen and sure enough an ace popped out and i lost that pot... then, i said, i'm goona test this again, went all in with pocket kings in same game and lost to two pair jacks/10s...

question: when you are sitting good and you get dealt these monster pockets, raise and someone calls all-in... what is the best thing to do? am i playing these right and just that unlucky or should i avoid any big confrontations until i know i have it on the table to keep myself from advancing more? HELP!!!??? i feel so stuck... i'm doing great til there and then i'm just not advancing to the next level of playing! :(
  2. THe next level of playing will come when you realize that

POKER IS ABOUT DECISIONS AND NOT OUTCOMES!

POKER IS ABOUT DECISIONS AND NOT OUTCOMES!

POKER IS ABOUT DECISIONS AND NOT OUTCOMES!

POKER IS ABOUT DECISIONS AND NOT OUTCOMES!

POKER IS ABOUT DECISIONS AND NOT OUTCOMES!

Once you realize that it doesnt matter if you KK gets cracked by JT (outcome) as long as when the money went in u were a favorite (decision).
  3. apply directly to the forehead!
  4. red......letters......hurt.........eyes.

there is nothing that you can do. get it with the best hand and let the gods do the rest. If you are just worried about moving up in money then feel free to fold your aces. personally i would rather bust out with AA to 72 then hover around long enough to get blinded to 9th place or worse.

P.S please never again use the term "pocket rockets" or "big slick"

Leave those terms for Norman Chad to fill up space with.
  5. You can't play scared, if you get KK and it's for all your chips most likely you are going in way ahead. That is all you can do at the end of tourney's.
  6. Stop posting in red! It's difficult to read.

Notice how there are no print publications done in red.
  7. How come nobody knows how to spell dilemma?
  8. sorry about the red guys lol.

so i am playing these correctly... i feel that i am just getting bad beats?

  9. are you seriously asking for advice on whether you should be calling an all-in with pocket kings? if so, then you do have a dilemMa.
  10. and that's exactly what it was... and i don't regret that and would too rather go out knowing i went in ahead. thanks y'all..

    one more question:

would you have gone all in if you caught 2 pairs: aces and kings on flop knowing there is a possible flush draw there?

  11. i'm asking if i raise with pocket kings/ace-king/pocket aces.. and someone raises to an all-in, what should you do? i have been calling everytime and find that i am loosing the majority of the time.

  12. thanks! and to think i am a screenwriter... thank goodness for spellcheck! man, i am new here and you guys are tough critics. i'm just asking questions and feel i'm getting spanked for the color of my text, spelling, slang words... isn't this suppose to be a constructive forum?

    That's pretty darn good.

  14. you should not just call. you should beat them into the pot. then sit back and feel fourtunate enough to pick up those hands that late in the tournament.
  15. You know I don't really say anything bad but you already know the answer to the question. If you aren't going all in late in a tourney with AA, KK, and AK what would you put your chips in the middle with? Those are the best hands, of course you are going all in with them, you would be dumb not to.

  16. I wish I had the dilemma of consistently making the top 10% of online tournies and making ft's in live events 90% percent of the ???!$(&!(??

  17. i know it's pretty good. i guess i'm just being hard on myself and second-guessing because i'm going out with those much more than i am going all the way with them... i guess i just needed reassurance that how i am playing them is right, just unlucky i suppose.

    thanks!

  18. i'm not meaning to brag.. it is a serious problem for me that i make it to the finals and can't get to the next step of winning it. i honestly don't mean it to sound like that.

  19. thanks and i will keep doing as i am doing then... off to play another tourney!

  20. i cannot believe anyone took the time to reply to some clown who says he makes 90% of final tables asking if he should get all his chips in with AA or KK!!! Nobody makes final tables even half that often and the question is ridiculous. gg guys.
  21. as far as i can tell, he's a she.

and this post is rather insulting to the human race. kk=win. stop being results oriented.
  22. I just came off a two week stretch where I consistently lost when I turned over major favourites in all in situations (I even lost with quads to a one outer). I felt like the poker gods hated me and started questioning my own play even though I knew I made right decisions. Stick to making correct decisions and the bad beats will get balanced out by wins. Poker is about correct decisions not results. Any fish can spike AA with 2-5 off if they play it often enough.
  23. i didn't really mean to imply the final table but more concerned with the final 300 or so in an online tourney... sorry i am such a clown.. i honestly wanted to know.

thanks for the positive replies and good luck all... i won't ask anymore questions. sorry to impose.

  24. are all of these results in freerolls?
  25. First off.. if I got AA, KK, or AK in the final 20 i'd shit myself.. Then push all-in, screw raising, go all-in then if anyone calls more likely then not you got them dominated. If no one calls you pick-up blinds to pad the stack.. with those hand should never be calling, should be pushing.
  26. yes, thanks for understanding.. that is exactly my dilemna. its just sucks when you play 12 weeks and do so well to get such a BAD beat when it counts but i shall keep playing as i have been and as you are... the poker Gods have to even it out eventually :)

  27. yes zapper.. i should've stated that initially.. my concern isn't with live games where i make it to the final table but when it gets down to the final 300, 200, 100 and such... do you take the chance or avoid playing big confrontations until YOU DO get to the final table... i actually play my best at final table.. it's the point of just getting there in these freerolls/qualifiers i have a problem with.

  28. gotcha, thanks

  29. never speak in definitives

    <<sarcasm>>
  30. of course you are going to lose more often pushing those hands in freerolls because you will get called with so many different types of hands. I imagine if you got hands like that in a normal tourney, you wouldnt get crushed nearly as often.
