My internet bugged out at a FT yesterday and it put me over the edge. What air card should I buy and what plan should I get? I would appreciate any responses
-
Well what exactly do you need? How much airtime? Do you need it for multiple computers? What cell phone carrier do you use?
-
virgin mobile, broadband2go. no contracts, pop it into your usb drive when your internet takes a shit and pay $10 for 100MB or $40 for unlimited monthly usage. it's already saved me thousands of dollars.

Either pay their ridic price for tethering, or if you've had an iphone with the unlimited data plan you just jailbreak it (which takes 5 minutes and 0 effort) and download the app to turn your iphone into a wifi hotspot. Best of all the speed is rly fast compared to verizons. I've downloaded movies at ~600 KB/sec, while fastest I ever got on verizon was maybe 125 KB/sec.

So J. I have a blackberry and use a program tetherberry that I spent like $50 on...good for emergencies but nothing like this.

buy a verizon android smartphone, get pdanet, problem solved.
if youre committed to getting a dedicated aircard Cricket has some ridic low rates, and no contracts. -
I use Cricket and it's not bad for poker but that should be all you use it for. Because after 2.5Gb of usage on the $40 month plan they throttle the bandwith to less than dial up levels. Virgin Mobile offers a similair service. Go to WalMart to get the modem (cheapest) for either the Cricket Broadband or Virgin. Verizon is like super expensive, I used them for a couple of months before switching to Cricket.

thanks for the responses guys. Prob gonna go with the verizon aircard since the store is right by my house and I don't have an I-Phone or plan on getting one anytime soon. Thanks for the help.

as already said your best bet is virgin mobil. it has a usb device which i have and also the mifi which will connect five comps but has a short wireless range. it is fast and has never cut out on me. I was also told tmobile is the fastest.
-
Those things are a nightmare really difficult to understand the charges and the chargers for that matter
-
I have a Verizon MiFi and it's the worst ever. Constant disconnects, pretty slow, and expensive. NO clue how this thing can supposingly fit up to 5 computers.
-
Might be the area your in. I have a MIFI and it works great. I use my for backup and if I have to travel and I love it. No disconnects, pretty fast too But it can get expensive if you do alot of downloads
-
id try out a couple and go from there - i had a verizon that worked well when i lived in my old house - in the new one it was awful and i gave att a shot and it works great......just remember cell phone coverage does not equal internet coverage so give them all a go

Keep lobbies min for less use. Some other actions can deter excess data use too. Prolly avatars & animations...

I ran out and bought the MC760 yesterday. Virgins new unlimited plan is the nutz! They run on the sprint EVDO network. I had it up and running in 37mins from radioshack to 12-17 tables on PS in a large Texas thunder (0:29) storm. Only had 1-2 bars and no drops/timeouts. I ordered an antenna/repeater which should be golden full bars double rainbow style!
All grinders should grab one if they are in the network area. They are on ebay for like $50. Buy a $10 top up and I think thats 250mb. 1 game on both FTP and PS uses aprox 1mb per hour. Keep lobbys closed no browser, pandora etc. You should be golden as a solid back up plan. Steer clear of the mifi until they sort the battery/charging issue out. It would be ok as a back up I guess. They only hold charges for 4 hours. People are frying them by charging and using at the same time. Apparently they melt...

first run test vid 12-17 tables... ^
CHEAP!
no contract
good network/plan considering wot data pokering actually uses
month to month
no f'n brainer imo
unlimited plan is only $40 per 30 days... i've had no issues cept a lost pin # with no solution.
*in the last month i have used Verizon mifi sux balls... 2 att usbs blew monkey nuts...
so happy to have my vcard back again <333
