I also posted this in OT but i would like others to see it who dont read there and might be able to help.
I came to the realization last nite that i am unable to be happy and in turn to play poker anywhere near my potential without the medication for ADD/ADHD that i used to take. The problem is that i do not have health insurance. The medication i used to take is called dexedrine its a dextroamphetamine and i took it in a spansule time release capsule.
http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/dextroamphetamine.htm
thats what it is.
My issue is that i dont have health insurance and dont know how to go about getting this drug. I am looking for some way to get into counseling at minimal cost to get this prescription back asap even if i have to pay full price for the prescription.
I just want to be a happy person again. I hurt my friends and my loved ones and family when i am not on this drug and i then hate myself for it and in turn hurt more people. Its a vicious cycle and one i have tried for too long to end without medication and have finally realized that it is just not possible.
Please give me any information you have that may help me to end this suffering = (

Sep,
Most cities have a public health clinic that will provide generic drugs at little to no cost. Also many charitable orginizations run low cost clinics where you can recieve quality doctors visits. I make use of one of these where each visit is based upon a sliding scale so you will pay $10-30 per office visit. An MD can write you a perscription that will last you 6mos to a year, especially if you have been on the meds before.
I don't know if the med you are looking for is available in a generic form, but hopefully it or a valid substitute is.
Your new residency to Las Vegas may give you a little trouble at first with the city clinics, but private clinics should be fine.
Good luck. -
Also, if you have contact with previous MDs or therapists who can forward info to new doctors that will help expedite your treatment if anyone gives you trouble.

Mind.. TY for responding.. i sent you a PM if you can respond.. thanks so much

The one piece of advice I can give you is call several pharmacies before getting the prescription filled. You will be surprised at the differences in prices at the different pharmacies. I interened at a pharmacy the past 2 summers in which we would sell some medications at half the cost of the CVS 2 blocks away.

in the front of most phone books is a bunch of blue goverment pages usually lists a place to help you
-
If I remember right you are in Vegas now? If so shoot me an email, I have a friend who has dealt with all the free medical stuff in Vegas for the last two years and I can get you in touch with him. He should know how to help.

not sure if you have a COSTCO there, but their RX's are cheaper than any drug store.
-
Plus I say it's always best to buy drugs in bulk. Just make sure you park close, those 5 gallon buckets of xanex are heaavvvyyy!!! ; )

Actually, that's not a bad idea.

there is a doctor in just about every pharmacy that can write you a scipt. But i dont know about border towns. my experience is with Mexico City mostly. it probably helps to speak good spanish so i don't know how it would be if they figured you were a drug kid. but i always just get normal things no Oxycoton or other crazy stuff. Ambien, adderall, ect ect are easy

Hey sepslugseven
I sent you a private message. Could you read it and respond. -
?? Pharmacists can perscribe... they dole out the shit but the MDs are the gatekeepers. And guard their territory very jealously. With good reason, some would say, as they are the "highest" trained in the health care field, but nurses and mental health therapists, who are also very well trained and have much greater contact with patients on average have been lobbying for expanded powers, including the power to write perscriptions.
