In the past i have always liked using an Ipod at the table. It gave me a sense of security and i also liked the fact it concealed information of mine and it was also easier for me to read players without them knowing how observant i am. I was told by a very good player to get rid of the Ipod and that its not necessary i a 1/2 NL game and it was actually killing my action as players tend not to feel comfortable playing pots with me.
After reading Navarro and Hellmuths book on Tells. I'm thinking of using it again. I want to get a more robotic image so i don't leak off tells. Ipod's also make players intimidated which prevents them from staring you down.
Also, do you think its a good idea to avoid conversation at the table. I always seem to carry the table captain image at the table and am aggressive and pretty talkative in a friendly manor. After reading Navarro's book I'm thinking of changing this. He strongly recommends avoiding conversation at the table for several reasons.
I'm sure your thinking "just go with what works best for you" But the fact is i haven't played a bunch live outside my local underground game.
I want to bring my game to the next level and will do what will win me more money. I can care less at how funny it looks with using an Ipod at a 1-2 game. $300 buy ins are a lot of money to me.
I also need to remind myself I'm not there to be social but to make money.
What are some of your guys opinions on this?
Thanks -

This is word for word the same post you put up 24 hours ago about sunglasses at the table. is it not? The answer is the same. Ipod or sunglasses at the table is ok when you find yourself at the final table of the WSOP and being stared down by Phil Ivey. However, Ipod and sunglasses at a $1/$2 table = twat.

Yup this is the same post as titled 'Sun Glasses or Not?'. So is Btodd and makeaporno the same person? Not sure I quite get the benefits of being a pocket fives multi-accounter? lol

I dont play live a whole bunch but i'm pretty suprised that Ipods are still allowed at tables, considering the technology they're packing now - ie. iphones w/ apps etc.
