1. Hi. I have had decent success in playing online. I feel like im kinda stuck at this point in my poker career. I beleive that by tutoring me it will show you how well of a teacher you are by getting me out of my rut quickly and effectively. I play 4 days a week. I also think I am a good fit because my winning percentage is pretty high at the lower stakes. You would get a great idea of how quick you can progress me into the higher stakes. Well I dont have any more time because im at work. On my breaks I read this website everyday. Ive also read alot of books, I feel like I need personal insite from a great player to maximize my potential. Pick me please!! Thanks
2. Hey Taylor,

My name is Nick Phillips. 18,WI. I am currently a member of CardRunners and have been for some time. I always enjoy seeing yourcash game videos and adding some moves/plays into my game. Icurrently grind my way at $1/$2 NL. You should know me. Myhandle is "Togl" I met up with you and Andrew in Aruba for the UBevent this year. Also while there I watched you and andrew play abit, but my best experience came when annette_15, dsnyder766, and I allplayed a $5/$5 NL game one night for 6+ hours. In the game I wasincorparating alot of preflop aggression you say you like to see and itwas leading to alot of payoffs. I even had annette gettingfrustrated raising 8/10 times she came in raising. Sometimes withair and sometimes with hands. I completely ran over the table andsinse coming back from Aruba I have been playing more aggressive in myring games and making a decent profit every session. I haveoverall been playing for almost 2 years and during the summer had amonth where i went on a tear in UB tournies netting me close to $20k intournament wins. Ever sinse then though I have begun college andreally only have time for cash games. I really just want toimprove my skills as much as possible and start making a stableincome. About a month ago I started to withdrawl 1 buy in a week($200) to start building my savings. Overall I play usually2 tables at a time mostly shorthanded and really focus on thegames. I make alot of moves and it is mostly because I focus ononly the 2 tables I am currently playing. I would really like youto take me on as a student. Please let me know.

Thank you,

Nick Phillips
3. My name is Robert Manjura

I am 18 years old, a freshman at the University of Central Florida. I have been interested in Poker for about 3 years now. I was introduced to the game by my step-father who used to be a dealer at various casino's in Las Vegas.

Goals
I am a very competitive person (much like ActionJeff I believe) and anything that I do I strive to give my all and become the best that I can be. Poker isnt strictly about making money to me (even though I would love some extra money in college), but more about using my instincts and brain to out perform many other competitors.

Good Fit
I did read about how you dont care about experience, but I do think a reason that I would be a great fit is that I am very willing to learn from the better players. I will try anything and sweat it out when I know that where Im leading to will be very beneficial. I believe my poker game right now is above average as I have final tabled a few tournies, but I DEFINITLY know that something is missing and that there is major room for improvement and learning.

I have asked AJ to let me know if he would be willing to take someone under his wing, but have never spoken with you Taylor. I have paid for many of the Cardrunners videos and enjoy your instruction as well as relate to the way you teach. As far as charging for lessons, if you turned me into a successful poker player, I wouldnt mind paying any rate that didnt severly dent my bankroll, because without you I'd still be right where I am now.

My aim is UCFBoody and my email is Rmanjura@gmail.com , and becoming a successful poker player (such as you, AJ, ahh_snap, ect.) has evolved into a MAJOR life goal in the past 2 years, and hopefully with a little luck you could help me make it reality.

Thank you for your consideration,

-Rob
4. GP,

I've talked to you before because I saw that you were from U of I, which is where I currently go to school. I am 21 and I exclusively play on pokerstars. I have $43.5k in tournament cashes and a $17.3k pokerdb profit. This has all happen w/in the past year because I only started playing "seriously" w/in the past year. I make my money playing a variety of sng's but mostly stick to mid-stakes because of the weaker fields. As for cash games, I don't play those too much, only when I'm bored and I usually only make 5-10% ROI, which I feel is the weakest part of my game. Anyways, I hope to hear back from you, and if not, good luck w/ whatever you are doing. Go ILLINI, obv.

5. Hey Green, (I AM YOUR DUDE!)

I have been playing Poker for many years but Texas/Omaha for about 4 years online and at Foxwoods. I have been steadly making more money each year YAHOOOO!!. I really need to work on my game in two areas. 1) Heads-up- I have been to many final tables but don't have a winnning Heads-up record there 2) Reading bets after the flop. I feel like I need to add some more agressivness here to help go deep in the Majors. Or something not sure here.

Thanks for Listening

6. TC,

An opportunity such as this is truly one that needs to be taken advantage of. First off, let me tell you a bit of my successes and opportunities that I need to work on.
I have cashed in several Live Toruneys, the most being for 80k at Borgata last year
I have been playing online for about 2 years with mixed results.
Cashed for about 70k on MTT - Playing maybe 1 or 2 tourneys a week
About Even (According to Sharkscope) for Sit N GO's
Recently started the Cash Game Quest on Line with decent results- 2-4 3-6 NL
Very Strong Working Knowledge of NL Holdem- Great Instincts, Strong Reads etc.

The reason why I should be the one seleceted is because of the unlimited potential I possess with the game. With the proper leadership and Guidance, my results could be astounding.
My areas of improvement needed to be succesful are ones that can be taught. Your guidance can be instrumental to my development, to take my game to the next level. I have watched you play many times, trying to think about certain situations and why you do what you do. The actual communication between us is what will help me the most. Learning from your experiences, your successes, your opportunities that you have developed.

I can assure you with certainty that if selected, It will be a relationship that truly will reach new heights in the poker community. For me, the opportunity is a no brainer. For you, however it is imperative that the right individual be selected. Someone, who has a passion and desire for the game, to be the best, to make the best decisions, understanding the complexities of situations. Picking the right person is crucial. THAT PERSON IS ME.

Look forward in working with you soon

Sincerely,
Stallionh
7. TC,

My name is Riley Shea. I am currently in my sophomore year of college at SUNY Albany as a computer science major. I began playing poker online shortly after watching the 2004 WSOP and Rounders. I built my way up from $50 playing $.01-$.02 Full Ring to $1-$2 6max. I started off as a slightly losing player but through lots of reading, experience, and help from your excellent CardRunners site I was able to get to the $1-$2 level as a winning player.

Unfortunately before this semester in college my family had some urgent financial issues that needed to be attended to. They couldn’t help me pay for college so as much as I love poker I decided to liquidate my bankroll so that I could keep going to college. I don’t know if I would be able to enjoy playing 4-8 tables online 40+ hours a week for the rest of my life or if it will even be possible years from now. I also love college life so I’m glad to be back.

Right now I am a fighter on the comeback trail. I’m working off $200 I built up to $780 over these past few months playing SNG’s and $25NL 6max.

I want to become the best possible player that I can be. I am always analyzing my game, checking over my stats and recorded hands. I’m using all this information to adapt and improve my game so whenever I wonder “Am I a better player than last week/month?” the answer is always a yes. There’s no worse feeling to me than knowing that I could have made a better decision at the tables saving/winning me a lot of money if I had just put in the effort analyzing my game before hand. I hope to back up to $200NL before the end of the school year and someday be crushing the highest limits.

While I’m not sure exactly what you’re looking for in your students I do believe I would make an excellent one if you were to choose me. I have watched all of the CardRunners video’s and have internalized all of the concepts in them. Since I have done that you wouldn’t have to re-teach me everything you’ve done with the videos. I am able to put in as much time as you see fit, so time constraints won’t be an issue. I will treat everything you teach me like gold, do whatever studying/analysis/misc you want me to do, and do everything I can to take everything you teach me to improve to a level I never thought possible.

As a side note, if you don’t end up reading this since there are so many applications or because you have already chosen student(s) I understand. If you do read this and consider having me as a student I greatly appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Thank you,

8. I am interviewing potential tutors. Let's see if there may be a match here.

I have been playing online and live poker for about 2 years. I completely enjoy the game and am constantly trying to learn more about it. I have read many of the top notch books and have improved my game quite a bit. However, I seem to run in streaks - hot, cold, hot, cold. I believe that part of the reason for this is that I let my game slip into a less agressive style and do not take take control of situations that are staring me right in the face. I have even caught myself letting this happen when I have gotten a pretty good stack in a multi-table and should be pushing that advantage rather than becoming defensive. I would like to work on that aspect of my game with someone who has demonstrated consistencey in playing the game; winning with less than stellar cards, but more than stellar representation.
9. Why tutor me:

- I am thinking about writing a book about young online players with the help of Richard Sparks (he wrote Getting Lucky and Diary of a Mad Poker Player), and being your student would help facilitate the book and be a great jumping off point.

- We met at the UB party in Vegas, I had played the night before with your buddy Ryan aka Steamboat (that asshole actually said toot toot motherfucker after beating my trip aces...lol) at the Palms, so you know I'm not a stalker nutjob. Ryan wanted to go do Saki Bombs, but I told you guys my liver would jump out of my body and kick my ass if I drank after the previous night.

- My goals as a poker player is to provide my life with more options, currently I work a 40 hour job of mind numbing boredom, but with two kids I don't have a lot of flexibility.

Thanks.
10. GP,
I am 37 yrs old with a career. I am a decent live, limit cash game player and have won some online. I am really looking to concentrate on NL cash games but am very green at it. I have done ok recently playing the micro nl cash games but I need to really learn the ins and outs of nl cash games. I am willing to put in the hours necessary to learn from you. I haven't studied nl cash game strategy very much so I am really a clean slate for you to fill with all of your knowledge. I am not looking to become a professional poker player but I would like it to become a nice second income for me and my family. Thank you for taking the time to post this and read all of these. I hope to hear from you soon.

11. Taylor,

Though its a long shot to be a protégé to green plastic, I have to take the chance making this post because i see this as an opportunity to sky rocket my NL Cash came. I'm a 22yr old computer aided measurement engineer from SoCal who's played poker for the last 4 years. Up until about 6 months ago i was strictly a limit grinder. Though i did ok in Limit, i found myself making the switch to NL and finding out that this was my game. I'm a currently a steady 100NL/200NL multi tabler and doing very well for myself. I honestly don't find myself playing this game so much for the money as i do for the psychological warfare that i enjoy at the tables. Don't get me wrong, I would love to play for a living, and plan on doing it, but i play this game simply cause i love the game.

I have a far from beginner understanding of this game. I understand concepts of NLHE and continue to daily study and implement them into my game. I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but with me this would not be a basic training course. I'm ready to dive into advanced topics and ready to be molded into having a mindset such as yours. I want to train myself to think as you do.

My goal in this game is simply to make the best possible decisions everytime i'm faced with one. If i accomplish this goal to the best of my ability then everything else will naturally fall into place. I'm a student of this game and am constantly thinking on ways to improve my game. I know plently of people would say that they have "it", but i feel i carry something special about me when it comes to NLHE and with help or by myself, i'm determined to be something special and i will.

I would dedicate as much time to this project as you would want to give. I also would work around you're schedule. I'm not here to take this lightly at all and i would do my part to make this the best expierience for both of us.

Having you as a mentor would put me on the fast track to high stakes NL. My goal is to play with the best players out there, and i will get there. The rare and special chance to be taught by someone who is already where you want to be is a something that doesn't come by often and if I was picked you would find me to be an outstanding student. I truly feel my over whelming want to be a great player would make me the perfect student. This paired with my easy going personality and love for poker discussions makes me a great pick. I'm a cardrunners member and watching you're video's has already jumped my game, so i can only imagine would 1-on-1 training would be like. If given this opportunity i would make the absoulte best of it and truly be something special at the end of the road.

Thanks.

-Brandon
12. Just got back from a business trip to see this . . . wow. Probably too late but worth a shot. Anyway, here is my info:

Name: Paul

Member of Cardrunners

Occupation: Corporate/Commercial RE Atty

Current Level: Play mostly shorthanded low limit cash games (50NL - 100NL); been playing for a couple of years but have only recently started to focus on improving play.

Goal: Become a consistent winner and steadily move up in limits; I love my job (well, I LOVE real estate development) and am not delusional about my "future" in poker - poker is a hobby for me and always will be. However, I am I'm very serious about improving and taking my game to the next level. Making money is obviously my primary goal. Fantasy would be to build up a roll that would allow me to become a real estate developer, etc. GP, I know how to make money (outside of poker . . .lol) and there is healthy cut for you in any real estate deals I am able to develop as a result of the winnings you help me attain!!!! In all seriousnes, would be an awesome opportunity and something that I would be totally committed to . . . thanks (and hopefully I'm not too late!).
13. Taylor,

I would love to get private lessons from you. I have played anything from MTT, SnG, and NL cash games at .50/1. I am currently doing decent but I know I need improvement. I don't really have good bankroll management. Not to mention, I live in Wheeling, IL and I think you are from Hoffman Estates? Tutoring would be very convienent for the both of us. PM me if you think I am a fit.

Lee
14. Hi Taylor,

I'm not sure if you have already picked someone or not, but I think I would be a good fit as your protege. I have been playing poker for many years, but semi-seriously for about 3. When I say semi seriously, I mean I enjoy playing it, and have done well, but never viewed it as a serious source of income. I recently satelitted into the WCOOP Main event, and cashed (At a tough table no less, Bax, JDags and Sheets all at my table), which has made me realize I can actually compete at a high level. That cash has allowed me to play a few higher buyin tournaments over the last few weeks where I have also done pretty well Click to see my recent results: http://www.pocketfives.com/?user=phxpoker

(That is me in the Orange Texas shirt, to my right is David Grey, and Jean Robert Bellande, who I busted in that tournament-hehe (2006 WSOP #3) another tough draw for me)

I think I have a good understanding of the game, especially the math part of it. I have also gotten good more recently of the proper use of fold equity. Where I lack knowledge, and am really seeking expertice is shorthanded/heads up play as well as chipping up early. I think your expertise matches my needs perfectly.

As far as ring games go, I tend not to do as well as I do in tournaments, I typically play $.50/$1 NL or $1/$2 NL 6 seat tables, and some $2/$4 Limit. I find that multitabling I lose focus, and end up making a mistake that I wouldn't make single tabling (In No Limit). I am able to Multi Limit tables ok. I think I hold more potential as an MTT player, but I am also interested in improving my cash game.

Thanks for reading this, and I hope to get a chance to learn from you.

-Chad
15. Good Day GP:
I have been a member of your site for a little while in the attempt of getting better. I have been playing online poker for about three years and I would call myself a decent player...on a scale of 0-100 I would say that I am in the 40's range. I would really enjoy the opportunity to learn from one of the best in the business, not only for the pleasure of winning like a king online, but for the improvement of my overall poker game. I would enjoy the comfort of a lifestlye that didn't include the worries of financial instability, the inability to take care of my family the way I would like to or the inability to help others as well.
I think this gift you are about to give to someone should not just go to someone who won't give something back...not only to another poker player but to the environment in which they live.
I really don't know what I can say to have you select me, but I hope that the challenge of teaching a medium player to be a powerhouse like yourself and knowing that it won't go to waste or be abused would allow you to choose me.
Either way, I enjoy your site and your videos. I marvel at your abilities and overall wish you nothing but the best. God Bless, take care and consider me for your student. Thank you for the opportunity and your consideration.

16. Taylor,
I have been playing on UB for a very long time and have done quite well in MTT- 5 Sunday 200 final tables and several other very good wins. I am missing something to keep the consistency and I can't get to groove of the cash games. I have taken the time and asked several times for a little help from some of the other top players but many have too much going on to help. I have looked into many of the training sites but frankly I need the one on one training. My goal is to get a solid bankroll going and sustained and hopefully WSOP MAIN EVENT WINNER!!!
If you would like to contact me catch me on the tables or drop message here

Thanks

17. Taylor,

As someone who has been playing poker for over 4 years with mixed results, I am very interested in this opportunity. I am a senior at Tufts University studying Economics and International Relations. Poker has always been one of my true passions. I studied the game relentlessly, constantly trying to improve my game through private lessons with HS pro's, CardRunners, Pocketfives, 2+2 and TP. I am also an avid reader of a number of poker blogs, but I just can't break the next level. Because of academic work, commitment to my sports team and my entrepreneurial venture, I could never put in as many hours as I wanted. Right now the recruiting season for the finance industry is almost over and I will finally be able to devote a lot more time to poker.

As I said, I have been playing for over 4 years on and off. After breaking even for about a year, my first big scores came the summer of my sophomore year; back than I was primarily a tournament player on party. Once I had about 10k, I started mixing in 1/2 NLHE and 3/6 limit, but after a hot run went busto. That was also the time when I had my first poker mentor and I felt like the 3 hours that we spent together took my game to another level. I gradually switched to NLHE, playing primarily 1/2 and 2/4 with an occasional MTT, but due to bad BR management I could never break 15k and only went down from there. This summer I worked an 8-11pm job in IBD so I had to put poker on hold, but I am ready to dedicate myself completely to the game starting this November.

My goal is to be better than my competition and have the BR to comfortably multi-table 3/6. I have been trying to launch my own business for about a year but after one of the investors pulled out we desperately need funding. I have sunk quiet a bit of capital as well as time and effort and I will not let my venture fail. Having said that, I'd like to use a large portion of my winnings to support my business.

Please let me know if you have time. I can imagine that you are swamped with pms and e-mails but I would appreciate any help or advice that you can give me. I know that I have the potential to do better at NLHE, but I need somebody to point me in the right direction.

Take care and thank you once again for this opportunity.
