i've been w/ villain at this table for a while. noteable hands with him: bvb, i 3x pre w/ ak, he calls. i cbet 684r flop, he calls. i c/c turn A and river brick.. his bet sizing was ~ half pot on both. he shows up w/ 73s. he hasn't 3bet much pre but defends his blinds often.. keep in mind this is 4max so i dno if he does it more often since we're so shorthanded. my cbet is a little less than half pot, but this is around my standard cbet regardless of whether or not i hit. by the river, the pot is ~ 13k. haven't ever seen him do this big of an overbet. what do y'all think ? i'll give my thoughts after some replies.. hope this is a decent hand for discussion

  2. Call please.

  5. <strike> call</strike>

<strike>my reasoning would be he had the nizzles with the 73 hand and only bet halfpot on river for value. while good players might remember that history and try to level you with that, his ROI blows on OPR so I doubt he's capable of that sort of thinking. he c/c here 2 streets and then randomly comes out of the woodwork with a massive bet? I would call and expect to see 56 a lot.</strike>

---EDIT--- I am RETARDED. lol I thought 73 had flopped the straight. Read the hand wrong. So yeah for the same reason (just in a different sense), I would fold.

villain bricked with the 73. I fold. in my experience when donks overbet riv they've got it 99% of the time
  7. I fold,

Look a at his line when he bluffed with 73, it was half the pot bet sizes both in turn and river....in this other hand, he is just check calling, check calling, and overbetting the river...I strongly believe he is taking this line for value and not for bluff...now the question is, what is value for this guy?

From my experience, overbets are inclined towards strong value hands (nuts or almost nuts), specially in this fishes that bluff soft (remember the 73 hand?) I believe the only hand you win he bets this big for value is 4,7 since Q7 and QJ I feel he would not have played that way..

I think he was slowplaying set or that jack hit him and now he has you beat, fold and hate the fish
  8. Looks like he bink'd a A10 OR 10 9 tough to fold but I doubt he's doing this with air
  9. these overbets always mean the nizzles in low stakes (usually) and how the turn and river played i def think he could easily have better two pair its a fold imo, could be a badly played set as well. I think his flop call smells of kq kj maybe k10(which we do have beat) and hes just waiting to do this on the river the whole way
  10. In LSMTTs this is a fold imo. Just as mentioned before, people have the goods 99% of the time the overbet shows up in low stakes. This could be that 1% but is not worth finding out, prob up against KJ/44/77.
  11. Thanks for all the responses. The river bet just didn't make sense at all to me because even if he had a 2pair hand that got there, i don't think that many people would be betting THAT much on 2pair, or maybe i was leveling myself. The only hand that i could make sense of that he could have was 56 or somehow 44 77 or JJ. the river bet just all sorts of confused me bc i couldn't think of any hand that plays like that on this specific board. i ended up making the crying call and he flipped over T9 for the straight. i was truly thinking wtf when he turned that over. oh well, i guess i shouldn't discount ALL possibilities of hand combos people could have =p. once again, thanks everyone. seems the concensus is to fold although i hate it lol
