62k - UTG - 99 (me) limps <- plan here was to shove when someone raised since table was kind of agro. Open shoving here doesn't seem like an optimal play to me and it's ugly to raise and get flatted.
Folds around to Button (tight player with 123k) who made it 5x to 15000.
My initial plan was to jam on someone who raised to try to get a fold or be ahead but my plan changes somewhat with this player. He's raising more preflop than he has at any point and this 5x to me just screams a hand like mid/high pair. I don't see players like this doing that with hands like KQ, KJ, etc...
Is my reasoning here awful? I only had 3k in the pot so I let it go to try to find a better spot. I suppose it's possible he has 77-88 here I just think the majority of his range has be crushed or is flipping, and since I didn't have a lot in the pot I could let it go. -
I always try and put myself in the other players shoes, how does what I did look to that person? Your limp UTG looks very fishy, if a tight player is 5xing you here you have to just dump it and move on.

5x kinda sucks so i guess you could potentially fold if 5x is way out of the norm for him. that doesnt mean i would fold. 21bb isnt a stack you want to limp/fold with, pretty much ever. doubt he has KK+ with this raise so you probably do ok vs his range
more importantly, raise/call pre if the table has been aggro, since theyre more likely to 3bet than flat -
yea I suppose I could have raised and got it in if someone 3-bets. It's just so gross to play mid pair OOP with a 20 bb stack if someone flats.

I like your analysis here. Based on your read, i think you fold and chose a better spot.

I doubt he's raising 5x here with a big pair because he's passing on value so I'd most likely put him on AK/AQ, so up to if you wanna race, your gonna havta chip up at sometime, then again I could be completely wrong on his hand type

I think his hand is fairly polarized at 1010-AA/AQ/AK. Given that is his range, it's an easy fold. I'm racing ~20% and crushed the rest.

I see him limping back with 88 or any smaller pair, not 5x'ing it. I haven't heard any analysis that makes me change my mind that it was the best play.
