Searched and didn't see this posted anywhere. What does this mean as far as internet poker is concerned if internet lottery is now legalized?

Monday, July 13, 2009

Quinn Signs HB255 - Legalizes Video Poker, Internet Lottery

from Illinois Church Action on Alcohol & Addiction Problems
Today Governor Pat Quinn, who opposed the expansion of gambling and supported a statewide referendum on gambling, signed the largest gambling expansion bill in the history of Illinois (HB 255). We are disappointed that Governor Quinn did not keep his word to the voters of Illinois. The cost of the construction bill increased to $31 million!
HB 255 legalizes Internet Lottery, making Illinois the first state in the nation to expand the Lottery onto the Internet and into cell phones where people can gamble 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
HB 255 also legalizes video poker machines in neighborhoods statewide. Legislators passed this legislation in a matter of hours, with no time to calculate the costs or impact on communities and families. The Illinois Gaming Board, the Cook County Sheriff, the Better Government Association, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times editorial boards all opposed this massive expansion of gambling. Legalizing more gambling in neighborhoods and homes will create more problems and more costs to the State. -
such a fucking joke

such a joke. this happens while IL also maintains one of the strictest stances against poker. if you really look at the law, home games are basically illegal.
Ppl who play the lottery are among some of the biggest degens going. I'm constantly behind ppl in line who are spending 40-60 bux at a crack, thinking that some how they can pick the numbers coming next. LOL.
It is mostly the poor who play these things, seeing it as their only hope. When one of these ppl do bink a lottery ticket, it often brings distaster to their lives as they are unequipped to handle it. -
i'm getting to the point where i'm not even joking about moving to canada, i'm semi serious.
