  1. So stupid play by me...
Final table, 20k blinds, i just took the chip lead 4 left.
    UTG raises 80k
I am next to act and have qq and want to push him out here so i put him nearly all in like 200k. (i have about 500k)
    Im confident he has Ax.
    he calls me
    flop is a49.
he puts his remaining in about 100k.

Do i call here? i know i am beat?
  2. You could have found out if he had Ax for a lot cheaper. Lay em down.
  3. Wow, you have to ask if you should lay this down?
  4. You basically pot committed yourself to make that call, but when you know you only have 2 outs, there is no real reason to call. You should have just put him all in preflop. There's a better chance of him folding if you do that rather than leaving him with 100k.
  5. yeah i thoguth so too, i didnt actually mean to raise that much, i just got alot of chips and wanted to reraise about 2 "clicks" but as my stack had been much smaller throughout the tourney 2 clicks was now 200k and i didnt look before i bet it. i immeditally regretted my bet and wish i either forced him allin or called his bet.

as the hand played out i knew he had ax but i just stupidly banke don being wrong, i called he flipped ak, blank blank, i went out a few hands later in 3rd

  6. Your opponent should have re-raised allin preflop. Simply calling your raise, and leaving himself $100K, was a very un-smart play by him. yes, I made that word up :)

You either need to put him allin, or simply call. Dont go with the middle ground, because you dont want to fold the best hand here if an ace or king hits. His preflop raise could also be a middle pair. I'm am unlikely to fold for another $100K here with $500K in the pot if he simply cold called my re-raise preflop. He should not have AK if he made this play. But keep yourself from getting into this position of getting 5 to 1 on the flop in the first place. Either put him allin, or call preflop.

In a 4 way pot, I'm probably putting him allin. He can easily call with an under pair or any Ax. We race against one hand in that range, and we dominate everything else. If he has AA or KK so be it. Since he's quite likely to call with a majority of the holdings we dominate, put him allin and remove any guesswork post flop, especially when the pot is going to lay you 5 to 1 or greater.
