  1. So i decided to play again after i was very much dicouraged by party poker. I started playing on UB 20 sng's. I played well over what my bankroll allowed but for the first few weeks i couldn't complain. I cashed out alot of my winnings, the past week and a half i raked in 700 + on UB 20 sng, and some 30 sng. I did however, lose the rest of my bank roll on Monday, i had 300 on there and i cashed out the rest the week before. I used Adam's strategy for the most part but adopted some of my own strategy as well. Played low pockets when i could, suited connectors in late position, some stealing. However, i dont know what happen on Monday, i cant figure out if i got lucky, or if it wasn't my day. I lost almost every race. I'm still not sure why i'm writing this post yet, hence whey i cant think of a title.

I guess what i'm wondering is if any of you think i should change my style, i'm tight aggressive. or take a break, if i'm a fluke or ran into bad cards. If playing over my bankroll caused me to go broke. I'm know as the_toater on UB, any of you 20 sng players recognize me, can you tell me what you thought of my play. Any how i'm looking to be more consistant can any one help.
  2. I think you had a bad day and hit a bad streak. Sometimes you will hit bad streaks.

Myself in March I did 57 SnGs...

    Beginning of March
11 for 12 in the money

    Middle March (bad streak)
7 for 29 in the money and there was one day I lost 4 straight.

    End of March
    10 for 16

I don't know what you did on Monday but maybe after a few losses on the $20 and $30 SnG, you should have moved down to a $10 SnG to maybe build confidence.

Or just stopped all together and start fresh the next day. You don't want to play your entire bankroll in one day. Why did you take the money out any way? One day is one day and there will be better ones.
  3. Well, like you said one day is one day. I can accept that but i lost alot of money on that one day. Some hands just wouldnt' hold, frustration took over, and i tried to force my way out of tought situations. i took most of the money off prior to monday b/c of what someone posted a frew weeks back about having his money stolen out of his accout. ironically the last withdrawl i made hasn't gotten to my neteller account yet and its quite frustrating. What i was also trying to emphasize was wether or not i was playing over my skill level by playing the 20s or if my play was weak. I was trying to get some people whom i played against to respond so i could get some info out of them. But any response is good and i apprecaite it as well.

This sounds disturbingly like tilt. I would very carefully moniter your play in these situations. How do you respond to a bad beat? Do you take it out on your keyboard or on your bankroll? Either one can be expensive, but bad play is definately more costly than say breaking a lamp.
I would say however that you're more likely to be playing over your bankroll than over your skill level. $20 sngos are LOADED with fish on most every site. They are definitely a little tougher than $10, but not significantly in my experience.
As far as cashing out winnings go, it depends on your goals as a pokerplayer. If you're playing for fun and hopefully a little extra beer money for the weekends, then by all means cash out whenever you want, otherwise I'd say winnings go right into the warchest so that you can weather the bad days. Perhaps you should set yourself some sort of rule where if you lose 3-4 in a row, you're done for the day. Start fresh the next day or at the very least drop down in stakes a bit.
UBs a big site, so it's a bit much to ask for someone to remember you well enough to comment on play in a few Sngos. The best thing you can do is try to form relationships with a player or two that you trust and get feedback from them. That and keep reading Pocketfives.com! ; )
  5. Hey thanks for the reply, i guess your right. It sounds like i was on tilt. The good news is i'm on a break for a couple of weeks, its been one already and am still okay with not playing everyday. But i will be back.

I don't agree with this statement. I think no matter what your level and your goals, you really need to take some "real world" profit from your winnings. If you put 100% of winnings back into your bankroll and move up in stakes then your winnings will always be virtual. You are still just sitting in front of a computer and playing poker, even if the numbers on the screen are a little bigger.

I am a pretty small stakes player but my goal for this year is to buy myself a new flat panel monitor for my computer (21-23"). Then I have something "real" to show for my winnings. So far most of my withdrawals have bought poker books, poker chips, and other poker related stuff. But at least it is something tangible.
