ok,so i was playing 9 plus mtts when across all my poker tables in bold chat comes the word HOECAKES...im still logged into stars i dont want to log out or quit my mtts in fear of my account will get hacked too...my norton said a attack on your computer has been blocked and then 15 minutes later that word appeard on all my chat boxes..does poker stars have a phone number? i also have snoop free on my puter and have ran norton and it shows nothing..
-
stars has anti bot software that will randomly ask certain players to type a random word into the chatbox. you have a few minutes to do so. im not sure what happens if you do not. but if it asks you to type in hoecakes, you'd better do it lol
-
it stayed there for like 1 minute then just vanished
-
was it what i described though? in the chat box it will say something like, 'please type in the following word' then in giant letters it will say HOEBAGS. if this is what it was, then its not a bad thing, and if it ever shows up again, make sure you type it in so starts knows youre not a poker bot
-
i shrink my 9 mtts so i can play on my 17in laptop..all i seen was HOECAKES when i enlarged them...is there any way i can call stars to ask them?
-
HOECAKES?
-
What the hell is a HOECAKES?
-
yeah, i understand what you mean. when a weird random word comes up, it looks suspicious. maybe its not a random word and a support staff member decided to be cheeky and write hoecakes. but yes, email stars and ask them about it. im sure they can help you out. 'contact support' not very difficult
-
OP, I'd log into all your accounts from a different computer maybe at a friends house and change all of your passwords. Then I'd do a full system scan at housecall.antivirus.com and see if that finds anything for you. I also recommend installing ZoneAlarm (can get at download.com) which will require your permission before any connection goes in or out of your computer
Even if it's not a virus and just something with stars (which would be very weird if it was), it's still good to do all these procedures every so often. -
LOL...dude are you telling me that "HOECAKES" could be some code word for "Contact Support"?

im just thinking some support staff decided to be funny and make a player type in hoecakes instead of a normal random word like 'scooner' lol -

Thank you for your Email.
The prompt you received is a legitimate part of <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1223083814_0>pokerstars</SPAN>' robot player
detection and prevention system, known as a CAPTCHA. CAPTCHA is an
acronym for "<SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1223083814_1>Completely</SPAN> Automated Public <SPAN class=yshortcuts id=lw_1223083814_2>Turing Test</SPAN> to tell Computers
and Humans Apart".
This system helps ensure that PokerStars is as free of "bots" as we can
make it. The system has been designed such that most players will
experience a CAPTCHA very rarely so as not to be intrusive upon your
game play. The exact criteria for who receives a CAPTCHA and when
cannot be divulged.
We ask for your cooperation in completing the CAPTCHA whenever it is
presented to you, in order to help protect the integrity and security of
our games here on PokerStars. Failure to complete the CAPTCHA when
prompted may subject your account to unnecessary further CAPTCHAs or
more careful scrutiny of your account.
Good luck in your games, and thank you for playing on PokerStars.

Its a real word just type it into any search engine. It appears to be a type of delicious cake, not exactly sure what it has to do with a hoe but im sure you could figure it out if you research it.

This thread is not getting nearly enough love. This should be epic.
HOECAKES is my new favorite P5er. -
they might as well have asked him to type in 'BITCHTITS'
-
Hoecakes are not so good for me, they taste like syphillis.
