Dear Joshua,
Edited By: theNorfman Sep 17th, 2010 at 10:00 PM
In light of the recent announcements by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Loto-Québec and the Atlantic Lottery Corporation regarding the launch of regulated online gaming products in Canada, it is with regret that as of midnight Saturday 25th September 2010, Poker Heaven will officially close its download and flash poker clients to all players registered and living in Canada.
As of today, it is no longer possible to deposit into your Poker Heaven account. You can either play through your existing account funds or withdraw your balance in advance of the 25th September. The minimum withdrawal amount is €20. Should your total balance be less than this, please contact our Customer Support team who will process the withdrawal on your behalf.
We would like to make this process as simple and easy as possible for you, so if you have any questions on this process or how to access your funds either before or after the cut-off date, please contact our customer support team either via email on support@theplayerzone.com.
Please note that this change only applies to players who are resident within Canada.
Kind regards,
Poker Heaven

So what is your concern? Funds on the site?
Sounds like they are cutting their losses in the light of BC/Ont/Que taking up online betting/poker. -
Yea, I am worried about it. I'm in Ontario and they are starting a poker site. I really hope that it doesn't turn into the only game in town. If so looks it will be a sad day for all us Canadians.
-
hey Chris did you miss this part?
'Please note that this change only applies to players who are resident within Canada."
Alberta separate from Canada recently?
This might affect us Canadians playing all on the publicly traded Euro sites and not the private ones that defy the US government currently (PS, FT, UB, Cake, Carbon) -
This only affects that boss/ipn network as that is the poker software that the BC poker site will use.

But I'm pretty sure these new sites they are starting are only available within the province, and not the whole country, so it would be an even worse case for me I guess, since I wouldn't be able to play on either.
I hope this is correct and this site is the only one that closes -
It wouldnt be surprising if things went this way given recent political movements elsewhere. Government might actually have to show up for a parliment session to mandate federally...which could take awhile.
-
well looks like were moving to the NWT boys..

got this note from fortune porker,
It is with sincere regret that we must inform you, the Boss Media Network will no longer be accepting Canadian Players to participate in any gaming activities on the IPN Software. Unfortunately, this means fortune poker and all other skins will now be asking Canadian Players to proceed in closing down their accounts.
We know that many of you have been extremely loyal to us over the years, and it is unfortunate that the network has made this decision; however we must follow the network rules and ask that all Canadian players cease activity by September 25th, 2010.
If you have a balance in your account, we suggest that you make a withdrawal at your earliest convenience to avoid any lengthy processes. If you require assistance with your withdrawal, please feel free to contact Webdollar directly (info@webdollar.com) or you can always contact me directly and I can assist you further. Please make sure you have withdrawn all funds from your account no later than September 24th, 2010.
At this time, we would like to thank you for playing with Fortune Poker throughout the years and we have truly appreciated your business. -
gonna pretend either a) this only affects people playing on boss/ipn or b) this thread doesnt exist

Let's not panic and take a look at the big picture here. pokerstars and Full Tilt defied the UEIGA so I'm sure they can certainly defy some stupid new Canadian law that probably isn't even enforceable. The small sites don't want to take chances. The big sites are like GM: too big to fail. IMO.
-
Don't you guys think the law is still too grey in Canada for them to enforce any kind of regulatory conditions?

plz eurodonks dont ... just dont -
Why would the big players drop out of the Canadian Market. They have the share anyways. It's the provincial gaming sites that will have to gain market share. fortune poker or whatever it was obviously isn't going to advertise against PS, FTP and the provincial sites, so they bowed out.
No reason to be alarmed, its just another new site that will haave lots of fish like me.
Also, if you're a BC resident the BC lotto has a nice promo where you can guarantee yourself $100 ~. Just make the deposit of $100, bet 50 on player and 50 on banker in baccarat, get you $100. Do it again and you've met rollover, then cashout. Simple as that. -
This has been known for awhile that all Boss sites were pulling out of Canada due to Boss being the provider of the governments software.
There is no indication at all that ANY site that isn't on BOSS NETWORK will be pulling out of Canada. -
I just spoke to a rep on paradise poker...
Shyam: How may I help you today?
nick: What's going on with Paradise Poker and Canadian players?
Shyam: Sorry but what exactly are you trying to ask?
nick: I heard that some IPN / Boss skins are shutting down their sites to Canadian players
nick: Is Paradise poker going to shut down to Canadian players any time soon?
Shyam: As of now there is no such update from the Boss to us
