buyins have been the same now for 5 years plus...y not turn 1500$ nls into 2ks....10k main into a 15k...have 1k rebuys again...Wsop officials need to quit getting 40-60 yr old live pro opinions on what tournes to host..obv the onilne generation has worked its way into live poker so pay more attention to the "future". Copy high roller SCOOP schedule imo....esp since 50k high roller event starts out the series seems like it would make sense to try and keep the big names around throughout the entire series by hosting better tournes early on than a 1k crap shoot(aka 3k starting stack 25/50 starting level seeing 25-30 hands an hour with 5k runner)...i mean come on lolol

please, harrah's is only considering the bottom line when they make tourney decisions (which is not necessarily a horrible thing). they might listen to the players but only to a small extent and not at the expense of driving out players. even if every "poker superstar" wanted a 15K main event its staying at 10k for quite a few years because it fills alot of rooms for a week. the schedule reflects what they think is good for business not what poker players think. the things to consider are :
1. the higher end of the poker market has collapsed while the lower end has done pretty well (just look at the number of tourney entries for lower buy in at good casinos in LA and AC)
2. Harrah's is planning on using more convention space this year - so they need to keep the players coming so the 1k drew huge numbers last year hence, they bring it back. you cannot really say the players don't want it.
3. Its just a reflection of the economy. Credit lines, etc have been cut so the casual player just wants to play lower buy in events.
4. I don't disagree that maybe they should move to a 4x the buy in chip policy. especially for the lower buy in ones.
5. If Harrah's was filling all the space everyday they would likely up the buy-ins. You do also have to consider you do want to attract new players and casuals otherwise the games are tough to beat. Culture has changed a bit and new players even fairly wealthy ones kind of feel like their wasting money plopping down 2k if they know they are a beginning player.
im just happy i can probably take a trip there this year. i would assume most people think you can still beat the tournies fairly handily despite the low starting chips, no? you also have to consider the hour levels are pretty strong. -
honeslty how many wsop regs are goin to say oo im not playing because its a 2k instead of a 1500....wsop is a time to take shots for everyone that thinks they are worth a shit in poker whether they are rolled for it or not..might as well get as much value possible out of the buyins..500 dollars will make last years fields of avg 2600 runners for a 1500 to maybe 2000-2200 runners in a 2k if that was the smalest buy in...more chips to start...less problems for tourne hosts to worry about..win win for casino and player imo

there's no way they're gonna change the low buy ins. the whole idea is, the more people they get into the rio, the more money they make. when they get 6k people for a $1k tourney...they get happy. hence there are more 1k's this year.
tbh i don't have a problem with the schedule, it has a little bit of everything.

i agree with op for most part, structures were actually good last year except for pot limit tourneys and the 5k 6max where they started blinds at 50-100 for some dumb reason.
one 1k is ok, but more is silly imo, def too many 1-1.5ks
