  1. Original Raiser was a bit of a raising station but would often fold to a pot bet on the flop if he missed but liked to call down with drawing hands. Guy who calls original raise just loked to look at every flop so wasnt too worried by him. I reraised to take the action away from the raiser as i was in position. When the flop hits me i pot bet all in and he calls instantly.. What hand could he think i have ?

  2. Two possibilities..

    1. misclick

    2. gambling
  3. as dumb as this sounds: He likely put you on a naked AAxx and thought (incorrectly) that he had 11 outs to pair it up and ship it out..
  4. You raised preflop with 89JQ?
  5. I think that raise is just fine if the table's been pretty tight.

His call is incomprehensible. Probably not something I needed to see first thing in the morning.
  6. You call off 25% of your chips preflop with 89JQ at 15/30 blinds? Damn I'm a tightass ...lol
  7. First of all, he's not calling, he's raising.

I'd never recommend this play if there was already a raise and call in front of him to get to that point. But IMO, PL Omaha is about finding a good drawing hand and putting chips in with it. And I think the OP's done just that.

If you want to tell me that he should be tighter at Level 1, that's fine too. There's always different ways to play the game. I've never played a PL Omaha tournament that wasn't a rebuy, so maybe my approach isn't the best for this tournament situation.
  8. Bad choice of words on my part...

Guess that's the one consistent thing about poker, not every player plays the same and there are almost as many different styles as there are players. It's always good to get a few different viewpoints on a hand, I think it helps just about anyone who reads the post..

I can agree on one thing, the call of the allin is just horrible...lol
  9. clearly he was playing for the straight flush
  10. Thanks for your views , normally i wouldnt like the raise here myself but after seeing the range of hands he was opening with i thought it was a good play.. If i miss the flop i can get away from it and still have 700 chips left with the blinds quite low, whereas if i hit a good flop i can win a big pot in (in relation to my chipstack at that time). I also think in Omaha if you are the type of player to only reraise with AAXX or KKXX then you become an easy player to read and these hands are alot more vulnerable than in Holdem.

  11. The stakes might explain this play. I see crap like this in the five freezeouts all of the time (probably why I get so frustrated by them while having a decent winning %). Jonah, can you enlighten us as to the stakes of this tournament? Because if it's a 10 freeze or even the donkey 1 freeze then this is perfectly explainable... not a good play by any stretch of the imagination, but not so frustrating. Be glad you got the call. You were a huge fave.
  12. Graps, you've actually got a good grasp on this. I play huge draws fast in cash games more times than not and I get paid more times than not (either by folded two pairs or by drawn out hands when I was the favorite). Just like in hold'em, the burden of justification for a raise or a bet is much much less than it is for just flat calling (unless the fold equity is terrible).
  13. Yes it was a $10 freezeout Mundi, and your right i wanted the call just not the 1 outer river :)
