buddy called and asked what i would have done in this spot and we both agreed that with 5 players to act behind this is a fold even tho were prob at least 55% aagainst the utg shippers range. what do u peeps think??

I think you are def better than 55% vs his range, 22-88 is easily in his range here with his stack and the blinds are about to hit him. I think this depends on the rest of the table, but I prolly shove to iso here...idk kinda tricky spot and player/table dependent

what about the table would make this call/fold? can someone who knows the math tell what the odds are someone behind him(5players) wakes up with greater 1010+ or aq+?

Everybody's a shove monkey now. I'm so sick of seeing everybody saying mid pairs are "sfstandard" reshoves against any open shove. Shove monkeys and calling stations in tourneys. Cash games FTW!

Your first comment is right on the money. Granted I don't play the 100r, but the reason tournaments are so hard to take down nowadays is because everybody is SOOOO dependent on variance. Nobody can find the fold button with 88-JJ these days.

Also, I know dre (open shover) and I don't think he's shoving pairs <99 here. So you're either dominated, or racing against overs IMO. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I think of the 3 options, flatting is the worst. Kinda torn on whether or not to fold or iso shove... pretty close imo

i didnt quote your stats like you depend on poker for a living. i didnt even say if you were a winning or losing player, you are the one who got instantly defenseive and start talking about chops and private tourneys and whatever other bullshit i dont care about. all i did was state that you have an average buy in of SEVEN dollars. $7. that is less than the rake in the 109 rebuy. so i was jsut pointing out that your bad advice should be avoided bc you are basically talking out of your ass and have no reason or jsutification for your play. im not a winning player on stars, big deal, im breakeven on stars, lol worse things have happened, everyone knows im not a winning poker player and jsut post on forums for show. it would be counter productive for me to play tourneys liek the 3r or a $10 fo, poker is about money and even the best players in those tourneys cant have a realistic expectation higher than 150%. so the money to be won wouldnt be worth it to me.

the stakes u play have everything to do w this post. u are giving bad advice about a situation in a tournament that you have never been in. im no pokerstove nerd but if the range u give utg it 77+ and AT+ like u have stated then i think that makes this an even easier reshove iso.

If I have to get through less people I shove. I think with 5 people left to act that most of which have us covered I probably fold instead of risking 30xbb here.

and for those who like to shove here I assume you are shoving AQ as well. And is this the bottom of your range?
