playing some 1-2nl at local spot. bought in for 200, bout 5th hand dealt to me, 2nd pot i had been involved in.
Live straddle is on, couple limps. around to me, i make it 20 to go, with Ad Ah.
Villian A calls 20, Villian B calls 20
flop is Qd 8d Qc. I am first to act and I check, villian A bets 25, villian b folds. I call.
turn is 7 of H, I check, Villian Checks.
River is Kd, at this point there is like 130 in the pot. I didnt like the card, but i thought if i put in a blocker type bet in case he did his some bs flush and i also felt that could also have some value here and i didnt want to check call a higher bet amount because pretty bad board. Well i fired out 35, and he just calls and tables K 5 of diamonds.
Did i play this hand bad? I felt he didnt have a flush draw, but i couldnt rule it out. he was a pretty good player and he could def lead with a Q on the flop with 2 guys behind him and with me being the original raiser. it would be a great lead if he really did have the Q and put me on AA or KK. My buddy and I were discussing and he felt i had to lead the turn for something, im not sure why i didnt, but I felt it was more likely for him to have Q rather than some shit diamonds.

I think raise more preflop, bet the flop, check/call the turn, check/call the river.

Definitely bet the flop. With just a diamond draw, he's not going to come over the top of you. His call will let you know that he's most likely on that draw, so when the 7h comes on the turn, bet the shit out of it. If he comes over the top of that, be afraid. Unless he's a complete donk*, he'll let go of his draw there.
*quite possible, since he called your $20 preflop raise with K5. -
I agree a bet on the flop would have given you more of an idea where you were at in the hand. Then put your blocker bet on the turn if villain flats the flop to see where your at. He only raises with a queen there and if he flats again on the heart draw you can check the river.

considering he has k of dia and the board has k dia. imo he only has 2 pair kings and queens..cuz he can only play 3 cards on the board and 2 in his hand.
wp. good non raise on flop. good check on turn and good value bet with what u think is the worst hand.
as bad as u played it, u got lucky that he got counterfeited with the same card on the river...sucks for him
