internet connection at pca?

    To anyone that was there last year, is the internet good or bad their? was going to play the mid-stakes comp but dont want to play it if the connection is bad. I heard it was terrible when i was in prague.

    outside of the main event and some of the side events. If i ever get to go there I am looking for women on the beach and trying to get laid every chance I get. i can play online poker in Minnesota screw doing that in the bahamas

    The people who suggest going to the beach have not been to the Bahamas in January. It is cold, windy and unpleasant. I'm not saying playing online poker is the right thing to do but hanging out on the beach is not a good idea (at least it wasn't during the three years I went to the PCA).

    Also, there are very few single girls going to Atlantis in January. It's mostly families and couples outside of the poker group. Well, and hookers.

    I'd much rather spend my money on hookers than online MTTs. I dunno, I guess because I'm not a tourney player I treat the live tourneys as vacations more than work and I only go to the ones in awesome places. Like if I'm ever in Prague or Melbourne for a tourney, there's no way in hell I'm ever getting online to grind like it's an ordinary day when there's so much awesome stuff to do. I've never been to the PCA, though. Seems weird to have it in January.

    i kno nothing bout playing in the PCAs, but why wud u play anything online especially a mid stakes comp where ur gonna have to put in heaps of volume? if i were to play nething online, itd just be the majors with a few friends in the room. im not trying to sit a whole 12 hours grinding a whole mid stakes comp

    internet sucks ya def preload ur media before going. also the weather this year is going to be better. Not that its all that accurate but the 10 day from today says on Jan 5th it will be 75 degrees... and its been 70+ for the past month too

    That is better than it's been but even 75 degrees on the beach feels cold if it gets cloudy. It certainly won't be like being in Aruba for the UB thing or anything like that (which was a great beach experience).

    75 degrees would feel like 110 to most the people in this thread tho...MN, PA, KY, etc...as long as its not a blizzard like the past few days, I am sure people can rough it out on the 75 degree days on the beach, lol

    That's what you say until you're sitting out there in a bathing suit, the sun goes behind the clouds and it gets windy. Trust me, it is not enjoyable. And during some of the years I went to the PCA, I coming from Philly.

    Anyway, everyone can do what they please.

    yeah doubt il play the mid stakes comp........obv this thread has just turned into a brag thread....wow must be nice to freerole the good life! il just play online and just do hookers and blow at the end of every session....no change there then...welcome to the good life!!

    i was there 2 years ago and while the weather wasnt spectacular, it was decent. the beach wasnt anything special but all the slides and stuff was pretty fun and for the most part, the weather permitted

    also, speaking from personal experience of 2 years ago, i met plenty of single girls out there that were pretty attractive, maybe it was a good year i dunno. But take it fwiw

    I didnt play any online poker while out there cause well, i like women and women on vacation are def fun .. i can play online while in nashville

    lobby is always packed with players. When I was there 4 years ago, all the pros Mankind, Bel0W, Annette, PBdrunks etc... busted early and just grinded tourneys all week long
    Weather was not great, nobody was on the beach. The pools are great though.

    Obv I'm not going, but as far as weather goes I grew up and lived for 25+ years about a 50 min plane ride from there. The weather this time of year averages in the mid to low 70's and sunny, unless a U.S./Canada arctic cold front effects the weather which happens probaly once a month. As far as the internet connection no clue. So for all attending gl with the weather and the tournies.

    Greatest thing I've seen at a poker tournament...on a Sunday last year a bunch of players were in the lobby of the Atlantis and the intertubes went out and you see everyone look up at each other..."you?"..."did it...?" "yours too"....((insert panic here)) it was just fun to see widespread panic.... to answer your question, the interwebs blew there last year UNLESS, you unplugged the internet that was connected to your tv and hardwired that into your computer...bring an ethernet cable and do that and life will be grand...also, the crap hotel across the street apparently had amazing interwebs so clearly booking a room there for seshing days is +EV

    as per females, its pretty rough there...best strategy, go up to the players with gfs and be like "bro that hooker you were banging last night was sooo fine, is this your sister?"...then sweep in to clean up the brokenhearted female...
