Been floatin around the site for awhile...(ehh probably months heh), finally decided to join in and start posting. Anyway, about the article...here's my question -
"So in this case, we risk $65.63 to potentially win $19.87. Given this info, we must call with cards that will win 76.74% (3.3/4.3) of the time to make this call +$EV."
I see what we're risking to potentially win $19.87 and how that is, but where does the 76.74% come from. I know 65.63/19.87 = 3.3029... so im guessing that's where the 3.3 comes from, and 3.3/4.3 = 0.76 which is where the 76% comes from but i guess what im really asking is where the 4.3 comes from and why we're dviding it 3.3 by 4.3. It's prob something easy I missed, can't seem to find it tho...help?

I'm pretty sure its because you have to get 3.3 to 1 on your money. Its showing how to convert a percent to odds.

WeWays has it right

yea i see that, but where is the 4.3 from though? u have to get 3.3-1 on ur money, the only way i see getting 4.3 from is adding the 3.3+1, and then dividing 3.3 by the sum of 3.3+1 (4.3) to get 76%, but i dont see why you would add 3.3+1 together, maybe im just math illiterate right now...and there's something im missing
-
actually, im just wondering where the 4.3 comes from if anyone knows... pretty easy if i find that out
-
Its not quite pot odds to percentage, its Chip Equity Odds to Percentage. ICM determines the equity value of the chips, which is very similar to pot odds but not quite.
The 3.3 and 4.3 come from the equities. If the hero folds the equity is 65.63 out of 200 total equity which is the 3.3 and if the hero calls and wns the equity is 85.46 which is the 4.3...
Im not sure why she didnt just divide the 65.63/85.46 it wouldve shown it a little easier
required winning percentage = equity for folding / equity for calling and winning -

Cooler it's because 3.3 to 1 pot odds is the same as 76.7%.
3.3 to 1 = .76744 to .2356 -
You got it right when you said 3.3/3.3+1
