he had pocket j' in the hand with Lee Childs Q's! Ouch, poor Lee! Heard on espn podcast
-
wow if childs makes that call he has a very good chance to win the main event and be emortalized forever....sooooicidEEEE
-
yeah, I feel very bad for him. That decision will haunt him forever. I still can't get over a shove I made tonight in a $5 sng! I can't imagine how he feels.
-
wow wow wow. Jerry yang was just so lucky
-
lol, lee childs is an idiot. I know, i know its harsh but he choked it big time for a guy whos supposed to be a decent player, Jean Van de Velde FTW!!!
-
senior menlo, childs is a CR member. u sir are a guest pro for CR. not very nice.
-
this reminds me of this year's WSOP ME. one guy raised, and I reraised allin with Jacks. He folded and proudly showed me KK. I was stunned.... lol
-
^^ Oops...
-
what do you want me to do, this is a poker forum, someone jsut made a post about a hand he played so I gave my opinion. If he had come on and asked for opinions I would be a lot nicer and more constructive but thats not what happened; I think his play was absolutely horrendous, thats all. Yea, the idiot comment was prolly kinda harsh, I just expect/hope online players to play better than that, and am bitter that Jerry Yang won. Shoot me.
-
but to Lee's defense, this was not an easy call by any means.
-
its ok, im just bitter than every other CR mtt vid is an mkind vid and not a menlo vid. :-/
-
andre, the way in which he played this hand was really bad in a lot of ways.
-
easy call
-
so how would you play if you were in his spot?
-
well, for one I would know what I was gonna do before the flop, I wouldn't call 2 million pre then lead for 3 million on the flop and then get shoved on and think ,well... I better figure out what im gonna do now.
I don't really have a preference between going all in preflop or calling with the stacks as I remember them, although I think going all in pre is slighty better so i guess i do have a preference, but i digress. If i did just call I would c/r all in on this flop. -
yeah. this is certainly a good line and power poker. Lee did play it a little timid.
but i can understand him. this is the FT of WSOP ME, not an online SNG. the pressure must be enormous. -
I'm gonna try not to get into a whole thing here, cuz I wanna go to bed, but I feel really strongly about how poorly he played this hand and there is just no saying he did not. The line that he took was not timid it was a complete and utter spew, in every single sense of the word. In fact his line was the absolute least optimal line you could possibly take on this hand. Lets look at the other options:
Fold Pf: kinda weak, especially against someone like Jerry Yang, but w/e he raised utg and got reraised, move onto the next hand, ok.
Call Pf, Fold flop: Pretty bad, no real reason to call preflop and fold on such a favorable flop, but ok, maybe you really believe Jerry on the flop. Meh.
Reraise all in preflop: You have QQ a very strong hand against an aggressive opponent, he will almost certainly call with JJ and AK and maybe even 1010 and if he folds you pick up a nice pot and boost your stack. If he has AA or KK, ul wp gg.
Call Pf, c/r all in flop: So you've just called preflop and gotten the exact flop you wanted, now time to get some value out of AK or AQ, if he bets the flop then folds to your shove you pick up a very healthy pot and boost your stack tremendously. Also with this flop he will likely be more inclined to call with JJ and 1010.
Call Pf, lead flop and call all in: Doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless you think he is likely to bluff off with AK or AQ, but you may be letting those hands off cheaply, but you still get value out of JJ and 1010.
Call Pf, lead flop and fold to all in: Now you have called preflop and stuck in 3 million more chips, and you are now gonna fold when you have almost no more info then you did preflop?? Could he still have JJ? yes. Could he possibly be bluffing? yes. Could he have you beat? Sure. But it has now cost you 5 million more chips to make a decision that should have been made preflop.
Ok, thats it, as you can tell I was very bored tonight, so enjoy. Going to bed. -
great analysis! thanks! menlo

I moved allin and got him covered. and obviously he put me on AA. but still, i was stunned. some people just really really hate to get knocked out of the ME I guess.
-
They must really hate to cash in the ME too.
-
Regardless of whether folding the QQ was the right move or not, Yang deserves a little love for making this play. This is really the only way he wins the hand.
-
but obviously he didn't put Lee on AA,KK or QQ. so when he moved in, he was pretty confident he was ahead. so you can say he accidentally made a great play....
-
With the way Lee played that hand, would you put him on QQ KK AA?
-
no. more like 88,99,10 10. QQ was possible, but definately not AA,KK.
-
It could not have been said any better than this.
