I admit Jerry Yang is a very charitable guy and a a world class person as an individual, but part of me wants to spit in his egg foo yung for acting like he deserves any respect as a player. he is very bad. far worse than any other ME winner imo, and every year at day 1 of the ME (which is the only time hes ever been featured on TV or anywhere since '07) he acts like hes some sort of poker god. fat face.
-
ya im not a fan.. in fact i hate him the most out of all past ME winners
-
all the praying to god every possible time was really annoying. I wonder if his god considers poker gambling and gambling with money to be a sin.
-
Considering what he has done with his money, I doubt God holds it against him.

Out of all poker players to hate on you choose pretty much the most harmless guy ever....such jealousy. Haters. -
Jerry Yang is just annoying as hell.
Jamie Gold was just a straight cunt. -
i sat with him this summer, and he is pretty nice! not good at poker but def not a bad guy!
-
Do you hate him because the way he acts all 1337, or because he luckboxed his way to the ME? What's the reason? I don't like him because he promotes his religion but at the same time doesn't practice what he preaches by NOT gambling. Poker is GAMBLING though I feel Poker is one of the most skillful games it's still gambling because of the great potential of loss. He's a great person but if you're gonna gamble don't be preaching about your religion that frowns upon gambling.

gambling is a sin?

Has he even accomplished anything in poker after winning?
-
sick brag calling the tea kettle black imo
-
how about enrichin the lives of thousands of poor, hungry, homeless people? or is charity and generosity not good enough for you? are you that materialistic that you only judge how deservin a person is by the number of titles/braclets and money he/she has won?
-
I meant during the tournament, not what he did after, thats a whole different story
-
as a christian who plays poker(talk about minority) i can tell you from my own research and talks with christian leaders that gambling is not a sin (im sure other christians would disagree of course). our faith sees any mismanagement of money as a sin and gambling within your means is no such mismanagement.

there is no difference between blowing 1k on gambling or a TV if you got the money. If that 1K pays your rent, feeds your children, ect. then that is considered a sin amongst christians that i know.
BTW even as a christian i feel his prayer antics were over the top. Im just sitting there watching him thining man your making us(christians) look nutty. -
Agreed

To all of you people bashing Yang /Gold just remember they have a World Champion Bracelet, YOU WILL NEVER ACHIEVE WORLD CHAMPION STATUS.
-
How can such a harmless question provoke such a biting response?

I didn't know how charitable he was because I have never even heard his name mentioned since he won the ME. -
Yea I cringed a little when Yang and Watkinson's wife were both summoning the powers of God when Watkinson was all in.

You dont know that. In fact I would believe you and the other random trolls in this thread would have just a good chance as Yang or Gold did.

I feel for all the missguided religious nuts. Thankfully I dont need religion as a crutch. his praying for cards could make me puke.

I dont remember anywhere in the bible saying that gambling is a sin. yes, i know the soldiers cast lots for jesus' clothes, but that just means that gambling existed, not that it was a sin. greed, on the other hand, is one of the seven deadly sins.

god does not hand out STUFF...and the book of jude tells us to beware of people who use the name of god for acquisition (modern evangelists refer to that as 'health and wealth prayer' or 'prosperity gospel', basically saying that if youre faithful enough, god will give you kewl shit...ironically, its like the comp points on poker sites :-D).
youre supposed to pray to god for wisdom and charity if you win and grace and serenity if you lose.
but again...god does not hand out STUFF. -
it was pretty funny/tilting watching this year's ME when that dude was acting like having Chan to his right and Yang!? to his left was sooo bad...... thing about Yangoff that gets me is when he puts his money in bad, flops fortunate, gets turned or rivered and then acts like he's bad beat? while looking for someone to comfort him (usually the camera)... i don't know if he even knows he acts like examples such as this, but i'm pretty sure it combines with his lack of game to create our Ultimate Douche-Champ...
