I just finished watching all four of the links. Impressive.
-
pretty god damn smooth compared to most bumbling online pros
-
got any links to the rest of it?
-
I watched this!
This kid played great poker. But did'nt he bad-mouth Live Players. -
impressive play, unimpressive attitude
-
Yeah he made some comments about how bad some live pro's play, then he proceeded to slice, dice, marry and divorce most of them on the way to winning a mill.
-
just got done watching all the episodes up to heads up. The kid was playing good three handed but he had many many suckouts to get there. Marc Karam was ripping him pretty hard in the off table interviews. I guess he one outed sebok on day one, then in telivesed hands he cracked AA w/ AQ, AA w/ TT, JJ w/ AT, KJ vs some A. Cracked AA on some other occassion and he also called gus down to river w/ AJ high adn spiked an A to crack gus. He also did say he was better than most of field and not impressed.
-
anyone that criticises the hand where he spiked the one outer on the river to make quads should quit poker. Sure he got lucky to win, he got unlucky to get coolered also. Nobody folds there.
Why mention the A high hand and not the hands where he does the same thing with 6 high? He wasn't playing A high he was floating gus to take the pot on a later street, when Gus fired big on the river he decided there was no value in raising and called. -

Because Gus Hansen never plays online.

For the last time can we stop giving this guy shit about his weight. No one deserves that.
He's very talented. He's probably a little too cocky but a lot of us are when we're younger. He got lucky to get to that final table and he played great poker, just like everyone else who has ever gotten deep in a major.

He's obviously a very intelligent kid and a great poker player with a promising future. I'm happy for him.
However, his commentary about the live pros is really nearsighted and shows a total lack of humility and class. As recently as the spring of 2006, this kid was gathering steam in online tournaments, and was still in awe of higher stakes games. I know this because I actually met him at Turning Stone in the spring of 2006 (his friends had posted pics of him on 2+2, so it wasn't hard to recognize him), and we expressed mutual shock as we watched a very large live NLHE game that was being contested in the poker room in between tournaments. We both kinda laughed at how much money was flying around the table.
He has come a long way in a short time, and that's great. But for him to give those sorts of snippy interviews indicates that he might have lost sight of where he was just a little while ago, and how fortunate he is to be where he is now. I think his age was probably a contributing factor to his stupid commentary. When I was 18, I had almost no composure and probably would have given a pretty awful interview in that situation as well. He'll do better next time. And there will definitely be a next time.
